SUMMARY:Autumn Gold: The Goldenrods (Online)
DESCRIPTION:Come fall\, fields are painted gold with goldenrods. In spite of their beauty\, goldenrods all too often get a bad rap as weedy – certainly not desirable garden plants! But there is great diversity among goldenrods\, with over 70 species in the eastern U.S. Many are stunningly beautiful\, and it is possible to select species that will bloom from early July through the first frosts. Goldenrods are also critical nectar sources for a staggering array of insects and serve a vital role in ecological webs. Many interesting insects specialize on goldenrods\, and the nutrient-rich seeds provide ample fodder for seed-eating birds. Explore many of the gorgeous goldenrods\, the animals that use them\, and how they fit into nature’s bigger picture. \nJoin live to participate in our online learning community or watch after as your schedule allows. All registrants will receive a recording of the class with access to view the class for 30 days after the live session. \nThis program takes place online Wednesday\, November 5\, 2025. \n About the Instructor: \nJim McCormac has authored or coauthored seven books. His latest\, coauthored with Chelsea Gottfried\, is Gardening for Moths (Ohio University Press 2023). Jim writes a column\, Nature\, for the Columbus Dispatch\, and regularly publishes a natural history blog. Jim is an avid photographer\, shooting a range of natural history subjects. He has had hundreds of photos published in various forums. His photography can be sampled at https://www.jimmccormac.com/ \nREGISTER NOW: \nGeneral Public \nIndividual+ & Dual+ Members \nSupporter\, Advocate & Conservator Members \n

SUMMARY:FRIEDAcommunity 10th Anniversary Art Exhibition Opening Cocktail Reception- Friday\, November 7
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening cocktail reception of our 10th Anniversary exhibition!\nFRIEDAcommunity has commissioned Madrid-based artist Mariano Martín to create 294 illustrations each capturing a special moment in FRIEDA / FRIEDAcommunity’s 10-year history of cultivating meaningful and memorable connections. Visitors will be able to scan QR codes to discover the inspiration for these works. \nAll artwork is available for purchase and all proceeds support FRIEDAcommunity. \nMariano Martín is a Spanish artist\, designer\, and architect whose work blurs the line between disciplines. Mariano captures the poetry of everyday life through lines and color. For him\, art is a way of seeing: walks\, meals\, conversations\, and moments over coffee all become inspiration. Each drawing is an intuitive translation of feeling\, gesture\, sound\, or movement—revealing a world just beneath the surface. His hand becomes a translator\, allowing the unexpected to emerge.

SUMMARY:Celebration of solar installation at Weavers Way Mercantile store (Mt. Airy)
DESCRIPTION:Join Weavers Way Co-op and the Clean Energy Co-op as we celebrate how grassroots investment is growing renewable energy at the Clean Energy Co-op’s latest solar project at the Weavers Way Mercantile. The solar array at Weavers Way Mercantile is the eighth installation of the Clean Energy Co-op\, and the second with Weavers Way Co-op. The Clean Energy Co-op uses an award-winning method of developing solar projects using pooled investments by its members. This pooled investment structure allows individuals to directly increase the amount of renewable energy installed in Pennsylvania. \nKids can run a solar powered shoebox size car and enjoy the bubbles produced from a portable solar panel. Short comments from groups and people integral to getting this project done will include Weaver’s Way\, Clean Energy Co-op\, Ken Weinstein\, and Solar States.
