SUMMARY:No Kings Philadelphia
DESCRIPTION:Time\n\n\nSaturday\, March 28\n12 – 3pm EDT\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nLocation\n\n\nCity Hall Phila. Then March Down Ben Franklin Parkway\n1500 John F Kennedy Blvd\n\nPhiladelphia\, PA 19102 \nMap\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe have the power and are claiming it together. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings. \nWhat began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny\, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever. \nThis event will start at Philadelphia City Hall at noon\, with a march down the Ben Franklin Parkway starting at 12:30. Speeches will start at about 1:15 at the Parkway and 22nd Street. \nWhen our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink\, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. \nOn March 28th\, rise up\, take to the streets\, and say it loud: no thrones\, no crowns\, no kings. We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it. Join us. \nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permitted\, should not be brought to events. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMainly flat ground\nNo stairs or steps\n\n\n\nNotes from the organizer: We will have some seating for people with mobility issues. \n\nHave accessibility questions? Reply to your registration email to confirm your requirements or request more information.

He translates his ideas through acrylic paint\, print illustration\, and multimedia design. His art style is heavily influenced by graffiti as well as the beauty in people and everyday objects. Amon Amir’s goal is to create an escape in this over-stimulated world. When you look at his art\, it’s almost as if we live an a utopian society where all problems cease to exist. \nDreadydee (she/her) – Dreadydee is a self taught painter located in Lehigh Valley\, Pennsylvania. She began her freelance career at an early age\, working on murals\, participating in art shows\, and also group exhibitions. Her passion for visual arts has taken her to numerous galleries up and down the east coast and internationally. Dreadydee sees her work as a purpose to give her audience an experience on everyday emotions through bold characters. Her style can be described as outlandish urban art with fun\, colorful and bold characters. She loves to experiment with textures\, colors and mixed mediums to captivate her audience and create a live sensory experience. \nel rizL (she/her) – el rizL is a Jersey grown artist with multi-cultured roots. \nKam DeLa (he/him) – Born from anime marathons\, retro video games\, and a deep love for music\, the digital art world of Kam DeLa blends color\, character\, and vision. Each piece features vibrant palettes and bold\, futuristic fashion that blur the lines between sci-fi and anime. These are characters with something to say and the confidence to say it. If expression is the treasure\, color is the key. That belief drives every palette\, pose\, and moment\, turning visuals into statements meant to inspire the inner artist in all of us. \nLindsay Kovnat (she/her) – Lindsay Kovnat paints\, draws\, and animates women and shape-shifting feline characters that unapologetically take up space\, both physically and emotionally\, in humorous\, playful\, and surreal ways. Through this work\, she satisfies the longings of her inner child by reclaiming the ‘well-behaved\, sidekick’ female cartoon characters—often portrayed as passive ‘dumbgirls’—and emboldening them with the mischievous spirit of iconic figures like Disney’s Cheshire Cat. Using watercolor\, gouache\, and acrylic on canvas\, board\, or paper\, Lindsay incorporates vibrant colors with hints of neon and dynamic lines to evoke motion\, electricity\, and spirit. \nSean “SK” Kinsey (he/him) – Philadelphia artist Sean Kinsey also known as “SK”\, is a visual artist whose work is considered an urban art style of painting as it has similarities to a street art aesthetic\, yet the work is intended for gallery viewing. Like many street artists\, Kinsey is self-taught and says that his work is about “making people happy and spreading messages of love and positivity.” He typically uses symbols of smiles\, hearts\, and peace signs along with uplifting words and his self-identifying brand. \n \nFeatured Live Music\nDJ Heat___wav – In his 10+ years of DJ-ing and production experience\, Heat___wav honed a passion for live blending songs\, original remixes\, and tinkering with all musical genres and instrumentation. Since hitting the scene of Temple University’s house party & cookout circuit\, he’s played gigs alongside local acts such as PNB Rock and DJ Vic B. With a comfortable grasp on the diasporic genres of Hip Hop\, Dancehall\, R&B\, AfroBeats & Amapiano\, his sound aims to provide a frictionless journey through contemporary rhythms\, familiar vocals\, and the overlapping space between songs. \n \nInterested in Showcasing Your Work?\nGermantown Art & Sound was created with the creative in mind! We are a passionate platform for artists to share and\, most importantly\, sell their work to a supportive and growing community of art lovers. He eats it every day. “Emeka\, come and try this egusi!” Mama and Papa urge. But orange rice is what Emeka knows. He doesn’t want anything different. \nThen one day\, Emeka comes home from school to find Mama in the kitchen waiting for him to help her cook egusi. One by one\, new things go into the pot. There are so many colors and smells and sounds! And Emeka is a great helper. With over 15 years of experience as a deejay\, music producer\, muralist\, designer\, and VJ\, he crafts immersive environments that draw from hip-hop\, African symbology\, and mathematics. His self-defined practice of rhythmism uses pattern as both method and message—an expressive system rooted in cultural memory and the universality of cycles. Whether through soundscapes\, projections\, or public drawings\, Oluwafemi creates works that pulse with both ancestral resonance and futuristic vision. In 2024\, he held a residency at the Philadelphia Museum of Art\, where he responded to early American artworks tied to African and Indigenous makers\, culminating in a multimedia performance that amplified these histories through original video and music. SUMMARY:The Wissahickon in March with Debbie Hoellein\, Jim McClory\, and Trish Fries
DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Northwestern Ave and Forbidden Drive.\nThere is nearby parking at the Northwestern Avenue Parking Area.\nPlease note that there will not be porta potties available at Northwestern since they’ve been removed for the winter.\nJoin Debbie\, Jim\, and Trish as we hike the northern part of the Wissahickon in March. We’ll be staying on the north side of Bells Mill Road\, walking in Andorra Natural Area and on the Orange Trail on the east side of the Wissahickon Creek. We’re excited to have Trish lead with us and share her knowledge of the area. Our route includes both loops in Andorra Meadow and the wooded area and passes the benches of 3 special people. We’ll see the remnants of the nursery Andorra once was and may even try out some magnets as we approach Bells Mill. And of course\, there are always points of historical interest.\nThe route includes a steep incline in Andorra Natural Area and a particularly rocky area on the Orange Trail\, so be prepared. There is an option to avoid the rocky area by walking back on Forbidden Drive\, but you will miss seeing one of Thoreau’s favorite plants.\nChildren over 12 years of age are welcome when accompanied by an adult\, but\, please—no dogs except for service animals.\nDistance: 4 miles\nLevel: Difficult (many inclines and declines\, uneven surfaces)\nAudience: 12 years old and up\nRegistration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.\nUnless otherwise specified\, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky\, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain or icy conditions. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.\nRegister Here!

SUMMARY:Growing Minds: An Intergenerational Approach to Garden-Based Learning
DESCRIPTION:Attend this virtual session to discuss garden-based learning with Master Gardener Rich Kedanis!\n\n\nHow can a garden become more than a place to grow plants? Join Penn State Master Gardener Rich Kedanis in this exploration of the use of garden-based learning (GBL) as a bridge between generations. We’ll look at how garden education fosters curiosity\, systems thinking\, and relational reasoning\, thereby helping children\, adults\, and seniors alike make meaning through hands-on connection with soil\, plants\, and one another. We’ll discover practical strategies for cultivating inclusive\, intergenerational learning gardens in schools\, communities\, and home plantscapes. \nThe event link will be emailed to participants in the confirmation email generated from program registration.
