SUMMARY:Mapping Our Watershed Community Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Mapping Our Watershed\, a participatory art and community science project taking place in Cheltenham Township will culminate with a free community celebration and pop-up art exhibition\, held on Thursday\, August 24 from 5:30-7:30pm at High School Park\, located at Montgomery Ave & High School Road in Elkins Park\, PA. \nMapping Our Watershed is led by Elkins Park-based artist and educator Rebecca Schultz. The project aims to increase residents’ connection to and understanding the complex and interconnected ecology of the TTF Watershed. \nWorking in collaboration with the Tookany/Tacony Frankford Watershed Partnership (TTF)\, the Cheltenham Center for the Arts\, and the Friends of High School Park\, Rebecca facilitated a series of free\, family-friendly workshops. \nThree workshops were held at parks throughout the Township incorporating community science and observational art activities; Rebecca was joined by TTF staff and scientists from the Academy of Natural Sciences and the University of Pennsylvania. At the other workshops\, held at Cheltenham Center for the Arts and High School Park\, participants made art inspired by water\, soil\, and plants\, often using natural materials. \nAt the same time\, Rebecca visited locations in the watershed that are prone to flooding and created a series of mixed-media maps\, incorporating visual data\, soil\, and plants. Rebecca is combining her map pieces and the art produced in the community workshops to create a large-scale work inspired by the TTF Watershed in Cheltenham Township.

SUMMARY:The Release Oasis: A Multi-Sensory Experience of Movement & Sound
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for an Evening of Release with Yoga\, Sound Therapy\, Fire Ceremony & Tribal Ecstatic Dance\n\n\nThis is the 2nd installment of The Release Oasis\, an event in the dome at Life Do Grow Farm (Urban Creators). Come release anything that is no longer serving you through the modalities of movement & sound. This will be a 4-hour experience that will include a yoga flow by Adonis\, a multiple player sound bath experience featuring James & Kuan\, a journaling/fire release ceremony\, and a tribal themed ecstatic dance party by DJ Pierre Paloma to enhance the energy of releasing through movement. \nAdonis Rosario is a multi-faceted healer. From holistic health coaching to yoga teacher\, he helps many with finding the tools within themselves and guiding them to healing. Adonis will lead an asana (yoga movement) practice to loosen everyone up and transition into a meditation before immersing everyone in sacred sound vibrations. \nJames Lamar is a certified sound bath facilitator and recording artist in Philadelphia\, PA. He is certified by sound healer Ana Netanel of Shakti Sound Bath in Los Angeles\, CA. James is the product of a talented bassist\, guitarist\, and musician of a father & a soul music loving mother who taught him harmony when he was 5 years old. His musical talents led him to the All Eastern Chorus\, studying music at Temple\, and having his own original music released on all streaming platforms. Since his sound bath certification in the summer of 2019\, James has shared these sacred frequencies in multiple spaces around Los Angeles\, Northeastern PA\, and Philadelphia. James’ debut meditation single is available everywhere\, “Meditative Soundscape: Crystal Singing Bowls”. \nKuan Young is a Philadelphia native\, who is known for being an artist\, artisan and business owner. Kuan has studied the science & power of sound\, which he now uses to heal himself\, his family\, underserved communities\, and individuals seeking vibrational guidance. Kuan attended the University of the Arts where he curated several public events. He owned a wellness center\, Sol Garden Studio\, where he offered various wellness practices to the city. Currently\, Kuan is giving back through his non-profit organization\, “The Garden Godfather\, Inc.” where he provides environmental awareness & social justice to youth\, adults\, and elders alike. Kuan is a featured sound healer. \nPierre “Paloma” Nix is unique in the fact that he is both a DJ and percussionist. His sound is a hybrid of his acoustic drumming with international grooves\, hip-hop soul\, and dancefloor fillers. When he is not creating his own music\, he is a part of the Philadelphia-based music collective Worldtown Soundsystem.
