SUMMARY:Philly DSA's Official Fundraiser for Chris Rabb for Congress
DESCRIPTION:DSA endorsed Chris Rabb for Congress. Chris is a democratic socialist from a long line of freedom fighters. As a five-term state  representative\, he’s stood with workers and tenants—and in Congress\, he’ll fight for universal healthcare and housing\, resist Trump’s cruel deportation agenda\, and end US complicity in genocide and war abroad. Donate here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/dsaforrabb \nWe must be clear about what we’re up against. AIPAC-backed super PACs and outside groups are already pouring millions into this race\, attempting to buy this election and drown out the will of voters. If we’re going to win\, we have to band together to ensure this grassroots campaign has the resources it needs to compete and prevail—not with corporate checks\, but with people power. This campaign belongs to all of us\, and together we can make sure this seat is decided by communities\, not by the highest bidder. \nPlease join us Saturday\, April 11th\, from 6-8pm @ Nikki Lopez to show that socialists are stronger than Super PACS. \n“I am so proud to stand with DSA at a moment that feels more important than ever. We’re fighting for our survival against an ultra-rich elite that’s hell-bent on destroying everything our multiracial working class has built. For me\, this is personal. My ancestors used words like justice and freedom to transform this country\, and today\, I’m proud to continue that legacy alongside communities of righteous struggle. Following in the footsteps of giants like Paul Robeson and MLK is the honor of a lifetime.” — Chris Rabb \n\n\n\n \nThis event is accessible\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEVENT BY\n\n \nPHILLY DSA ELECTORAL\n\n\n\n\nSPONSORED BY\n\n \n\n\nPHILLY DSA\nPhiladelphia\, PA

SUMMARY:Chestnut Hill Conservancy's Discovering: Chestnut Hill’s Victorian District
DESCRIPTION:The Discovering series\, one of the Chestnut Hill Conservancy’s signature public programs\, spotlights the area’s rich architecture\, history\, and natural beauty through guided tours and lectures\, offering Conservancy members discounted tickets.\nConservancy members enjoy discounted tickets and exclusive access to special events\, fostering deeper connections throughout the Wissahickon watershed. Join today to receive program discounts and help preserve the stories and spaces that define our community.\n \nDiscovering: Chestnut Hill’s Victorian District\nSaturday\, April 11\, 2026\nIn-Person | 2:00–4:00 PM\nRegistration: $20 for conservancy members | $25 for non-members\nLimited tickets available. Advance registration is required.\nThe exact walking tour meeting location will be emailed to registrants approximately two days prior to the event. \nClick here to register.\nThe Chestnut Hill Conservancy invites you to step back into the Gilded Age with Discovering: Victorian Chestnut Hill\, a guided walking tour led by local architectural historian\, lecturer\, and Our Town columnist George McNeely. This in-person tour will explore the “top of the hill” neighborhood\, which flourished after the arrival of the first railroad terminus in Chestnut Hill in 1854\, kicking off the dramatic transformation of this town.\nThat railroad opened the area to Philadelphia merchants and professionals who sought respite from the congestion and pollution of the city. The next several decades saw an explosion in the planning of new streets across nearby farm fields and the construction of proud suburban “villas” in the Italianate and Gothic Revival styles. Some were designed by Philadelphia’s more important architects\, including Samuel Sloan and Theophilus P. Chandler. Many of those houses have survived mostly unchanged\, offering a wonderful opportunity to explore the prosperous “top of the hill” neighborhood that was the center of Chestnut Hill before Henry H. Houston and his son-in-law\, Dr. George Woodward\, developed the West side.\n“The parade of well-preserved Victorian villas along both sides of Summit Street represents a rare glimpse back into the early decades of the Gilded Age and would make a perfect setting for that television series\,” says McNeely.\nThis walking tour will provide insight into the architectural details\, urban planning\, and historical context that shaped this distinctive neighborhood long before the development of Chestnut Hill’s west side.

SUMMARY:Photo Weaving workshop
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever looked at two images and wondered what they might say to each other? In this hands-on workshop\, artist and educator Kara Mshinda will guide participants through the art of photo weaving — a simple\, tactile technique that layers two photographs together using a classic basket weave pattern to create an entirely new image. \nWorking with pre-cut image sets featuring the birds\, flowers\, trees\, and waterways of Bartram’s Garden\, you’ll weave together photographs to create new compositions that blur the boundaries between species\, seasons\, and moments in time. No previous experience needed — just use your hands\, your images\, and your instincts.
