SUMMARY:Wednesday Volunteer Service Day with David Bower

SUMMARY:Free art show-Animal House- works by Elizabeth Beecher
DESCRIPTION:Beecher’s world has been gloriously encircled by the quirkiness and humor found by way of fur and feathered animals. Her art reflect the embrace of joyfulness found in our backyard companions and the boost that a colorful world provides us. Clearly a whimsical\, unique artist\, she’s inspired by the animals in her own life\, as well as the those cherished in others’. Such attention is made on bringing them to new form by way of the mixed media process through bright and bold expressions. Beecher acknowledges her muses in having unique personalities worthy of sharing and persevering for us all\, and that is further enhanced by her method of collaging pattern and materials into the compositions.\nDo not miss the opportunity to view these wonderful works in person. Stop in the gallery 5 days a week to view. All works are also available for sale online.

SUMMARY:Flexible Product Fabrication Community of Practice (Monthly Convening)
DESCRIPTION:Join the Flexible Product Fabrication Community of Practice for our September session! Special guest and agenda TBA.\n\n\nWelcome back to UMA’s monthly Flexible Product Fabrication Community of Practice Meetings! \nSince its inception in 2019\, this group has served as a hub for small- and medium-sized businesses and organizations to connect\, exchange ideas\, and create new experiences. We paused in early autumn of 2024 to focus our efforts on a showcase series to highlight the work of leaders in the space. That series has concluded and we’re delighted to say that we’re producing a podcast based on our findings! It also means that we’re ready to reconvene this (now larger) group with a renewed\, solutions-based focus. \n \nThe goal of this community of practice is to: \n\nGrow the Flexible Products Fabrication CoP and increasing the number of regularly participating members.\nDevelop a continuous learning practice for members that includes presentations by community members and subject matter experts\, peer-to-peer mentoring\, and toolkits\, among other strategies being defined.\nCollaborate on projects that will benefit members within defined regions as well as across the country.\n\nThe CoP is open and free for participation. 2024 group discussions are held monthly at 1:00pmET and last for 1 hour. We will share more information about this event\, including an agenda and the Zoom link\, with registrants through Eventbrite.

SUMMARY:The Amazing Pawpaw at Tucquan Glen & Pyfer Nature Preserves
DESCRIPTION:Come explore the story of the pawpaw!\n\n\nGrowing from late September to early October\, pawpaw fruits have a brief life – so brief they don’t last long enough to make it to grocery store shelves. Thomas Jefferson was so enamored with the pawpaw that he’s said to have sent pawpaw seeds abroad to foreign dignitaries. \nNote: This is not a foraging event\, and we will not be picking pawpaws. We do not encourage foraging on Conservancy preserves. \nWhat to Expect: This will be a 3-mile moderate hike with some elevation changes and a stream crossing with a strong likelihood of getting wet. This event is recommended for ages 13 and up (participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). There are no restrooms available on site. \nWhere to Meet: We will provide the parking location for this event via email directly to ticket holders two days before the event (please be sure to check your junk folder if the email doesn’t reach your inbox). The parking lot at Tucquan Glen & Pyfer Nature Preserves remains closed to the public. \nWhat to Bring: Bring water\, insect repellent\, snacks\, pertinent personal first aid\, and shoes that can get wet. Dress for the weather. Hiking poles may be useful. \nEvent Leader: Before joining the Interpretive Ranger team in 2023\, Kate Prisby partnered with Lancaster Conservancy in riparian buffer work at Climbers Run and building the new trail system at Tucquan Glen & Pyfer Nature Preserves. She enjoys sharing the amazing landscapes Lancaster Conservancy stewards with others. \nAnimal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home. \nRefund Policy: If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket\, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event. \nCancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine\, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event\, attendees will be emailed\, and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. If the Conservancy cancels the event\, attendees will be notified via email when possible and refunded. \n\n\nThank you to our generous annual sponsors for making this event possible!

SUMMARY:5 Stagehands Fall Out of a Closet (the goose crisis)
DESCRIPTION:An avante-garde model\, a professor of botanical poetry\, and a paranormal investigator walk into a bar. Ouch. \nThey proceed to the back of the Trestle Inn\, where\, hidden behind an ominous curtain\, shapeshifter Grace Lazarz unleashes a bevy of lovably grotesque characters into the intimate Go-Go purgatory. \nLazarz and director/collaborator\, Michael Amendola\, invite the audience to follow a whirligig of comic delirium while a chorus of 2 57 13 … 5 stagehands try to piece together a psyche with bubblegum and bum notes… before time runs out. \nGet your steps in\, lewk mortality in the eye(s)\, and discover the beauty of aging car mechanics and mutated pig innkeepers. “5SFOOAC(TGC)” is an absurdity that will stay with you until your cosmic punch(ouch)line. \n*Characters created by various imbalances.

SUMMARY:Buen Camino
DESCRIPTION:Touring from Hawaii\, Susan Edsall brings “Buen Camino\,” directed and developed by Jessica Lynn Johnson\, to the Yellow Bicycle Theatre (1435 Arch St) for the 2025 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. \nSusan has a perfect life\, a perfect love\, and perfect happiness. When she suddenly undergoes an unexpected loss\, her perfect life ends. Consumed by excruciating pain\, she finds it impossible to imagine any future worth living.\nUntil\, on an ordinary trip to the grocery store\, she hears The Voice. The trouble is\, Susan doesn’t believe in Voices. And yet\, when The Voice tells her to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain\, she obeys despite knowing nothing about this ancient pilgrimage. \nAt rock bottom\, Susan has nothing left to lose except the stories that bind her to the past. With the help of some improbable Spiritual Guides\, a little bit of magic\, and the Camino itself\, Susan must face her past to have any hope of creating her future. \nAlone on stage\, she becomes 23 characters to take the audience on her solitary walk through 540 miles of rain\, resentment\, and redemption. “Buen Camino” is a moving story of how grief can lead to surrender and ultimately to freedom. \n“Through the vivid\, funny and at times heartbreaking story of an excruciating and intense time in her life\, she magically transfers her own metamorphoses\, from profoundly bereft widow to hopeful\, determined and inspiring human\, to us — the audience. Both the performer and the observers undoubtedly changed by art created out of tragedy.” –NoHo Arts District
