SUMMARY:Summer Creative Practice Series
DESCRIPTION:Join coven organizer Cassie Jones in an open studio session of discussion and crafty play. Different mediums each day\, & enjoy a free beer!\n\n\nCome by the coven studio at 10 North Third Street and join in on whatever craft I’ve got planned for the group. Throwback style to hosting events in my basement for years\, I get to choose the craft\, and you just show up! \nThis series will serve as a creative exploration project both for me\, and for anyone that chooses to come to multiple sessions. People often ask me how I’ve built up a collection of so many different skillsets in the craft and art world- this is how. I’ll be inviting you all into my studio to see how I work from one project to the next\, and how each of them are treated as a way to hone my artistic mind and keep the motivations flowing in a productive direction. \nEach session will begin with a circle discussion of what we’ve been processing in our art lately\, and where we’d like things to go next. We’ll trade feedback with anyone looking for insight on their work\, and each person will have an alotted time to speak -or not speak- After the discussion portion of our workshop I’ll introduce the skill for the day\, something different for each group. Some of the projects that are on the list for this summer are: \n-Puppet Building \n-Stop Animation \n-Gelli Printing \n-Cyanotypes \n-Accessory Design \nWe’ll make some things together and work open studio style. Feel free to bring your own projects and you have access to the tools on hand. Message if you’re looking for something specific like a sewing machine etc. \nBYO snacks\, beverages\, party favors etc. I’ll have beers available\, filtered water and a handful of tea varieties. \nAbout the Location: \nThe coven studio is located in the heart of Olde City in a below ground storefront. There are 10 steps down to get into the space\, and our ceilings are not very high. Anyone over 6’4″ will have watch their head until they have a seat. Any more questions about the space or accessibility-please reach out!

SUMMARY:Outdoors Online – Restoring Crum Creek
DESCRIPTION:Want to learn how we’re improving water quality and restoring ecosystems?  \nJoin Preserve Manager Mike Coll for an exciting webinar on the innovative deer enclosure fence at Hildacy Preserve and how it’s enhancing the water quality of Crum Creek\, a vital source of drinking water. Thanks to funding from AQUA\, this project focuses on revitalizing the floodplain to improve the health of our water resources.  \nDiscover how this initiative is creating a lush\, native planting area that slows and absorbs water runoff\, reducing harmful erosion and sedimentation. The exclosure fence also helps improve water quality by allowing native leaves to naturally filter the creek\, supporting macroinvertebrates that are essential for clean water.  \nBut that’s not all! Learn how this project is also sequestering carbon\, providing new habitats for floodplain species\, and supporting migrating wildlife. Plus\, it’s boosting native plant diversity\, which is crucial for pollinators and other vital insects.  \nDon’t miss out on this opportunity to learn how ecological restoration is benefiting both the environment and our water supply.  \nRegister for free or become a member to show your support for Natural Lands.

SUMMARY:Summer Series 2025
DESCRIPTION:Experience world premieres by Amy Hall Garner\, Choreographic Fellow Noelle Kayser\, and the return of Matthew Neenan’s The Last Glass. \nAmy Hall Garner\, BalletX’s Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation Choreographer in Residence\, blends innovative choreography with vibrant storytelling to create immersive dance experiences. Known for acclaimed works with New York City Ballet\, Ailey\, and Joffrey Ballet\, she returns to BalletX for her third world premiere on the company. \nNoelle Kayser was selected from over 50 international applicants as BalletX’s 2025 Choreographic Fellow. Inspired by the art of microscopic photography and the world of the unseen\, this BalletX debut will take audiences on an intricate visual journey powered by Kayser’s detailed\, energetic\, and evocative choreography. \nMatthew Neenan’s The Last Glass (2010)\, an audience favorite that has received standing ovations across the country\, is a work that unravels with exuberance and spontaneity through a series of touching solos and duets. With inspiration from the wild street-parade sound of American indie-rock band Beirut\, The Last Glass is a ballet that slowly awakens like a city\, part mysterious pageant and part raucous celebration. \nHappens on the following Dates:\nJul 16\, 2025\, 7:30pm to 9:30pm Timezone: EDT\nJul 17\, 2025\, 7:30pm to 9:30pm Timezone: EDT\nJul 18\, 2025\, 7:30pm to 9:30pm Timezone: EDT\nJul 19\, 2025\, 2:00pm to 4:00pm Timezone: EDT\nJul 19\, 2025\, 7:30pm to 9:30pm Timezone: EDT\nJul 20\, 2025\, 2:00pm to 4:00pm Timezone: EDT\nJul 20\, 2025\, 7:00pm to 9:00pm Timezone: EDT

SUMMARY:Richard's Rambles: South Farm\, Pink Hill & Philadelphia Lilies
DESCRIPTION:FOR ADULTS (18+) AND TEENS AGES 15-17\nThis Ramble will explore the fields of South Farm\, passing by the Wister specimen tree collection\, the American Chestnut Orchard nursery and the ruins of the old German-style barn of this tenant farm. We will identify the wildflowers and native grasses of the fields\, which start to come alive at this time of year. Then it’s on to Pink Hill to discover the beautiful Philadelphia lily (wood lily) and other wildflowers\, many of which are found only in rare serpentine ecosystems.\nPlease arrive by 9:15 am and go directly to the Chestnut Orchard parking\, not to Tyler’s Visitor Center.\nDirections to the Chestnut Orchard from Tyler’s main entrance: turn left onto Painter Road and travel 3/10 of a mile; the Orchard entrance will be on your right. (If you pass the fenced-in giant sequoia tree on your left\, you’ve gone slightly too far.) A guide will be stationed at the entrance to direct you to the parking area.\nThere’s more to discover in Tyler’s 650 acres. Join Dr. Richard Brenner for a walk through the various eco-communities at Tyler. From seasonal wonders\, living fossils\, meadows\, watery locations\, geological treasures\, conservation areas\, and unexpected wildlife\, Richard will expertly guide you to prime areas for an experience you will remember. Expertise from others will often be on hand for a more in-depth exploration. These rambles are for those who have a love for nature\, exploring\, and learning. While a description of each Ramble is posted in advance\, we reserve the right to make last-minute changes\, including adjustments for weather and trail conditions. Bring your reusable water bottle and dress for the weather\, including sturdy shoes. Long pants and bug spray are recommended for tick prevention. \nPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED \nMEMBERS (sign in for your discount!): FREE\nNON-MEMBERS: $18 per Adult; $10 per Teen (ages 15-17).
