SUMMARY:Clay Play Open Studio Making
DESCRIPTION:Come out and touch some clay!\n\n\nThis is an open session clay making workshop. Each person will receive 1-2 pounds of clay per session and access to our basic tools and supplies. Pieces can be glazed with color and will be once fired and ready for pickup in 3-4 weeks. We will have limited colors available and suggest that you purchase your own Stroke and Coat glaze if you’d like consistent color and control. You’re welcome to bring any of your own tools. \nThe instructor leading your session will have a basic project that you can build if you aren’t working independantly. Some sessions will be more guided than others. \nAny unfinished clay pieces should go home with you. We will do our best to provide you with plastic and wrap enough to walk out with your piece so you can keep it moist enough to complete it and dry it ahead of firing. Please plan ahead if you know you were looking to make something complex that you’ll want to take home and continue working on. \nThis is an ongoing workshop offering. You can come to this session\, take your piece home to finish and dry it fully\, then bring it back in the future to have it fired. Or you can complete your piece in the 2 hour session and leave it at the studio to dry and be fired for you. We will have a clay artist on site that can answer technical questions and get you started with a project idea. Suggested age is adults but ages 7+up can attend along with a paying adult. \nApril 17th: Pinch Pot Planters \nAbout your instructors:Clay artist Sea Star (pronouns: they/them and she/her) has been making sculptures with clay since they were 2 years old. The material has been a great exercise in play\, design\, and patience. Over the years\, they have harvested and processed unique clays from Maine to Tennessee to Puerto Rico. In 2022 Sea earned a BFA in Interdisciplinary Sculpture from MICA and currently works as a Glaze and Decoration Technician for a Philadelphia pottery manufacturer. \nCassie Jones (pronouse: She/They) is the craft coven founder and lead organizer. She has her hands in most crafts but has a great passion for anything scultping. When running open studio you can expect a concentration on non-funtional applications and decorative projects. Currently working on staff at Black Hound Clay studio Cassie has also worked many years at Painting with a Twist in Philadelphia\, run a leather brand CUSP by Cassie\, is building a line of chain stitch embroidered patches\, as well as many other ventures since graduating from The Savannah College of Art and Design in 2010. \nAbout the space:This event is located in the Starr Garden Playground rec center. When you enter the gates for the playground you will walk to the right of the building to the entrance that is facing Lombard Street. The rec center is mostly used for after school programs and kids camps but is empty in the evenings so they allow us to have adult programming. You’re welcome to bring your own water bottle or snacks\, and there will be light music and a social studio atmosphere rather than a classroom. \nOrganized by The Craft Coven\, this event is part of a community oriented series of creative enrichment projects focused on affordability for all. For more information on the group’s missions and to get involved more widely check out https://www.TheCraftCoven.org and become a Member for all the inside opportunities and classes.

This unique structure allows individuals to directly increase the amount of renewable energy installed in Pennsylvania. The Germantown store solar project is the Clean Energy Co-op’s first in greater Philadelphia and is its largest project to date. Members of the Clean Energy Co-op who are legal residents of Pennsylvania can receive the prospectus and choose to invest in preferred shares that would fund the Weavers Way Germantown solar project. \nAn information session will be held to provide individuals an opportunity to learn more about the Clean Energy Co-op and the Weavers Way Germantown solar project on April 17th at 7pm at 520 Carpenter Lane\, Philadelphia PA 19119 (Oceania conference room located in the Mt. SUMMARY:Stonewall: The Riot That Built a Community
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an incredible evening with Mark Segal\, a trailblazer and advocate who has played a pivotal role in the LGBTQ+ community\n\n\nMark Segal was 18 years old on the night of June 28th\, 1969\, when he entered the Stonewall Inn. Raised by the only Jewish family in south Philadelphia’s Wilson Park housing project\, Segal was no stranger to being an outsider. He told his parents he was leaving Philly to go to school in New York. In truth\, he’d left to find a gay community. Watching an episode of The David Susskind Show years earlier he’d learned that gay people existed in New York and he knew then that was where he belonged. \nSegal would go on to organize some of the earliest American LGBT organizations\, help plan the first Pride March in 1970\, found the longest running LGBT weekly newspaper\, the Philadelphia Gay News\, and become one of the most important figures in the alternative gay press. But on that night at Stonewall he was still a teenager just exulting in the chance to drink and socialize with other LGBT people at a time when homosexuality was still treated as a psychological affliction by the medical establishment\, immoral by most religions\, and criminal under law. \nPenn State Great Valley encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided\, please contact Becky Stanko at rus1078@psu.edu or call 610-648-3236\, ideally 2 weeks prior to the program to allow sufficient time to effectively meet your access needs.

DESCRIPTION:Studio Incamminati and Natural Lands’ NextGen Council invite you\, especially if you’re in your 20s\, 30s\, or 40s\, to an exciting exhibit of original art: Gregory Blue and the Landscapes of Stroud Preserve. This special evening celebration will mark the commencement of the dazzling exhibit\, which features 40+ works\, large and small\, inspired by Natural Lands’ Stroud Preserve and created by artist Gregory Blue over the last several years. \nStudio Incamminati\, which will host the exhibit\, has been at the forefront of the contemporary realist art movement for two decades. Founded by Nelson and Leona Shanks\, it is now recognized internationally for its rigorous curriculum\, accomplished instructors\, and diverse outreach efforts. \nStudio Incamminati makes its home in South Philadelphia’s Bok building\,  an old school turned workspace — full of makers\, businesses\, nonprofits\, and artists. Gregory’s work will be showcased from February 29 to May 3. \nNatural Lands’ Next Gen council raises awareness of Natural Lands throughout the region and promotes opportunities for people in their 20s\, 30s\, and 40s to get involved in our work. Join us for a meet and greet with the artist in a unique and fun venue. \nThe Bok Bar is bringing the cash bar to the Studio. If the weather cooperates\, enjoy your drink on the roof of the 7th floor overlooking the skyline of Philadelphia. There is no charge to attend. Bring a friend and enjoy an evening of art at the Bok. \nLove this painting? Attend the event\, finish the scavenger hunt\, and be entered into a raffle for your chance to win this print – a closed edition of 100 prints on German etching paper\, signed and dated by the artist. \n \nAbout the artist – Gregory Blue:  \nFor more than 40 years\, Gregory Blue’s landscape paintings have taken inspiration from the bucolic imagery and natural beauty of the region of Bucks and Chester County\, Pennsylvania. As the first major exhibition of Blue’s work in almost 20 years\, this show opens a fascinating view into the artist’s evolving process and approach. Blue’s world vision is saturated with color\, patterns\, and textures encountered at various times of day under changing light conditions. The resulting exploration is a symphony of highly controlled yet powerfully dramatic tableaux that resound with brilliantly colored\, evocatively illuminated rural scenes typical of southeastern Pennsylvania. \n\n\nGETTING TO STUDIO INCAMMINATI \n\n\n\n\nStudio Incamminati is located in Building Bok at 1901 S 9th Street\, 7th Floor\, and accessible by auto or public transit.
