The event will include a discussion on the benefits of on-site renewable energy for houses of worship. \nWrightstown Friends Meeting in Newtown\, PA leveraged federal incentives made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act\, installing solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and a geothermal heat pump. These improvements qualified the Quaker Meeting’s project for the maximum 30% tax credit. \nThe event will include a presentation from project installer\, Exact Solar\, a locally owned installer of solar energy systems. Philadelphia Energy Authority Director of Commercial Programs Lisa Shulock will provide an update on solar energy incentives and discuss Solarize Greater Philadelphia‘s free technical support and financial guidance for houses of worship and other tax-exempt properties.

Then join us on Tuesday mornings this summer for a Devil’s Pool Clean-up!\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Litter clean-up: carrying trash bags up to 20 lbs\, hiking up to 1.5 miles\, navigating rocky terrain\n• Repetitive motions\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Then join longtime Wissahickon steward David Bower and his dedicated team of Crew Leaders and Trail Ambassadors for a variety of stewardship projects!\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Trail work: using long-handled tools\, moving heavy objects\n• Plantings: bending over\, crouching/squatting\, carrying up to 20 lbs\n• Invasive plant removal: bending over\, using long handled tools\n• Litter clean-up\n• Repetitive motions\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Cuba Center Wednesday\, August 20\, 2025. \n About the Instructor: \nKelly Gill is a Senior Pollinator Conservation Specialist with the Xerces Society and a Partner Biologist with USDA-NRCS. Kelly provides technical assistance to NRCS staff\, producers\, land managers\, and communities for implementing conservation practices for pollinators and other wildlife. This includes planning\, designing\, and installing habitat plantings such as wildflower meadows\, flowering hedgerows and buffers\, and gardens. She has experience developing conservation plans across different landscapes\, from rural to urban settings. Kelly also works with research partners to create technical guidelines\, outreach materials\, and training programs to guide pollinator conservation efforts. Throwback style to hosting events in my basement for years\, I get to choose the craft\, and you just show up! \nThis series will serve as a creative exploration project both for me\, and for anyone that chooses to come to multiple sessions. People often ask me how I’ve built up a collection of so many different skillsets in the craft and art world- this is how. I’ll be inviting you all into my studio to see how I work from one project to the next\, and how each of them are treated as a way to hone my artistic mind and keep the motivations flowing in a productive direction. \nEach session will begin with a circle discussion of what we’ve been processing in our art lately\, and where we’d like things to go next. We’ll trade feedback with anyone looking for insight on their work\, and each person will have an alotted time to speak -or not speak- After the discussion portion of our workshop I’ll introduce the skill for the day\, something different for each group. Some of the projects that are on the list for this summer are: \n-Puppet Building \n-Stop Animation \n-Gelli Printing \n-Cyanotypes \n-Accessory Design \nWe’ll make some things together and work open studio style. Feel free to bring your own projects and you have access to the tools on hand. Victoria Wilcox ( 2023\, USA\, 4 min) \nAfter recovering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma\, Steven “WOP” Williams finds his place in the rink. Through hard work\, he lands the opportunity to compete for a place on the Olympic boxing team for the upcoming Olympic trials. \nThe Brothers That Broke Bread dir. Victoria Wilcox (USA\, 10 min) \nA young Black saxophonist in Philadelphia navigates the hardship of finding his voice as a musician in a predominantly White college. Through a battle of self-doubt and determination\, Josh finds his place in the Philly jazz scene through brotherhood and resilience. \n____________________________________________________________________________________ \nFor over two decades now\, Street Movies! has been a great way for people to gather together\, engage with independent film\, and foster discussion around the cultural histories of their neighborhoods and issues affecting their communities. Meet at the Garden’s 56th and Lindbergh Blvd entrance (please note: free parking is not available at the Garden during these hours\, so you must utilize street parking). \nAll ages are welcome in this free and inclusive group.
