SUMMARY:3nd Annual 2nd Place Race
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the annual 2nd Place Race. The object is simple: collect just enough points – puzzles\, challenges\, games\, trading and tricking – to finish in second place! Also\, no running required! Remember: winning is more important than coming in first! \nThe hunt begins at Quig’s (1714 Delancey Street (Plays & Players\, third floor)). Doors open right at 5pm\, so teams (can be any size) should arrive 5:00pm or after. There will be a sign to ring the bell so that you can get buzzed in (then amble up to the top floor). You’ll get your info packet and then the fun starts immediately! Later\, teams travel a short distance to Devil’s Alley before finishing at City Tap Logan Square. \nAs teams solve puzzles/challenges and play games\, they begin to collect points (that can later be traded with other teams). Keep checking the leader board and see if your team can land in second place. At the end of the event (around 9:30ish) the team that ends up in second place wins!! \nSo\, grab a partner or two or more & sign up; then on the night of the hunt be sure to dress for the weather (you will be outside between bars!) & get ready to go for silver! The event is open to everyone\, but it is suggested that all team members be over 21 (all the indoor stops are bars). \nRequired items (per team): \nPen or pencil \nBlack (or dark) Sharpie \nHighlighter \nSomething to write on \nFlashlight \nDevice capable of receiving text messages \nDevice capable of searching the Web \nInstalled free QR Code app on smartphone \nFunds for food\, drink & stuff \nSee past 2nd Place Races here: https://www.clubedventures.com/rallye/2PRace/2pr.htm \nThis year the hunt will benefit Paper Doll Ensemble – a feminist theatre collective whose original plays combine comedy\, dance\, theatre\, and visual art to create captivating worlds with character-driven narratives. Their “tragicomedy” style illuminates the absurdity of everyday life and our political climate. Since their inception in 2017\, PDE has been featured at Plays & Players Theatre\, the Philly Fringe Festival\, Alabama International Fringe\, and “East to Edinburgh” with 59E59 Theaters in New York. Our historic ships\, the Olympia and the Becuna\, connect Philadelphia to the rest of the world\, telling tales about the people and cultures they have interacted with on their journeys. These stories are woven into every aspect of the visitor’s journey\, from the first time they enter the lobby to when they walk off the gangway of Olympia. \n\nQUESTIONS?: Feel free to reach out to programs@myphillypark.org. \n

SUMMARY:Flexible Product Fabrication Community of Practice (Monthly Convening)
DESCRIPTION:Session #2: The New Interpretation of Workforce\n\n\nWelcome back to UMA’s monthly Flexible Product Fabrication Community of Practice Meetings! \nSince its inception in 2019\, this group has served as a hub for small- and medium-sized businesses and organizations to connect\, exchange ideas\, and create new experiences. We paused in early autumn of 2024 to focus our efforts on a showcase series to highlight the work of leaders in the space. That series has concluded and we’re delighted to say that we’re producing a podcast based on our findings! It also means that we’re ready to reconvene this (now larger) group with a renewed\, solutions-based focus. \nThe topic of this session will be “The New Interpretation of Workforce”. We will be sharing a link to the event along with an agenda in a direct message to the registrants. \nThe goal of this community of practice is to: \n\nGrow the Flexible Products Fabrication CoP and increasing the number of regularly participating members. \nDevelop a continuous learning practice for members that includes presentations by community members and subject matter experts\, peer-to-peer mentoring\, and toolkits\, among other strategies being defined. \nCollaborate on projects that will benefit members within defined regions as well as across the country. \n\nThe CoP is open and free for participation. 2024 group discussions are held monthly at 1:00pmET and last for 1 hour.
