SUMMARY:The Regeneration Handbook: Presentation\, Q& A\, and Book Signing
DESCRIPTION:Ever wonder what people are talking about when they talk about “regeneration”? Currently applied to fields as diverse as ecology\, spirituality\, health\, and economics\, regeneration has become a bit of a buzzword lately. \nDefined by Mirriam-Webster as the “renewal or restoration of a body\, bodily part\, or biological system\,” Don Hall\, author of The Regeneration Handbook: Transform Yourself to Transform the World\, argues that we might come to understand regeneration more broadly as the “act of helping to bring something back to life – ourselves\, our communities\, and\, ultimately\, the Earth.” \nIn the face of mounting environmental\, economic\, and social crises\, Hall\, a long-time activist with the international Transition Towns Movement\, observes that “more and more people genuinely want to help bring about a just and regenerative future\, but feel overwhelmed or don’t know where to start.” “Fortunately\,” he says\, “there are so many things we can do right now to make a real difference\, starting wherever we are.” \nAccording to Hall\, a regenerative community might look like one where there’s an abundance of small farms and gardens\, a vibrant culture and economy powered by sustainable local businesses\, solar panels on every rooftop\, more bikes than cars\, good public transit\, and plenty of spaces to gather and commune with nature. It would also be a place where people from all walks of life regularly come together to dream\, discuss\, and design their own destiny. \nHall’s U.S. book tour\, the “Regenerative Communities Roadshow\,” will be stopping in Media for a presentation\, Q&A\, and book signing on Monday\, July 15. This event will take place at the Providence Friends Meeting\, 105 N Providence Rd\, Media 19063 from 7-8:30PM. Admission is free\, but those attending are encouraged to register in advance at https://forms.gle/EUnbFWJb3MKdo3B99. \nFor more information\, you can visit Hall’s website\, evolutionarychange.org\, where you can pre-order his book\, subscribe to his blog\, and find other upcoming events. In these increasingly uncertain times\, one thing’s for sure: we’ll be hearing a lot more about regeneration in years to come. \n* * * * * \nAbout The Regeneration Handbook: The Regeneration Handbook offers an abundance of insights\, stories\, tools\, practices\, and resources for experienced and aspiring changemakers to step into their full power at this time of unprecedented global crisis. https://newsociety.com/books/r/the-regeneration-handbook \nAbout Don Hall: Don Hall has served in a variety of capacities throughout the Transition Towns Movement over the past 15 years and is currently Training Coordinator for the international Transition Network. Don holds a Master’s in Environmental Leadership from Naropa University\, blogs at evolutionarychange.org\, and lives in community in Boulder\, Colorado. https://evolutionarychange.org/don-hall

SUMMARY:Cobbs Creek Park Ambassadors: Save the Native Flowers at Little Whitby Meadow
DESCRIPTION:Little Whitby Meadow is a hidden gem in Cobbs Creek Park. Since Audubon PA began restoring the Meadow\, native flowers have been making a comeback. These plants are crucial to the survival of our butterflies\, bees\, and birds. Unfortunately\, this resurgence of native flora is being threatened by invasive Wild hop (Humulus japonicus)\, which is smothering everything in its path! Lend a helping hand to our native plants by pulling out some invasive Wild hop with the Cobbs Creek Park Ambassadors! \nLocation: Meet at the entrance of the Little Whitby Meadow (Start at Cobbs Creek Pkwy & Whitby Ave. Head West on Whitby Ave.\, towards Yeadon\, for about 500 yards. The gated entrance to Meadow is on the North side of the street. Look for the “Cobbs Creek Park Ambassador” sign.) \nNote:\n– All equipment (work gloves\, bags and trowels) will be provided.\n– It is strongly recommended that you wear long pants and close-toed shoes\, as we will be working in areas with thick vegetation. A long-sleeved\, lightweight shirt is also advisable.
