The construction of Cliveden occurred during this violent time. A growing household of over twenty people at Cliveden reshaped their identities and looked to retain or procure their liberty at a time when discussions of freedom and independence were in everyone’s thoughts. This exhibit explores their experiences and struggles as a new nation formed. \nProcuring Liberty in the Emerging Nation is made possible by the generous support of The Mill Spring Foundation\, The Haley Foundation\, the Richard Dietrich III Foundation\, The Chester County History Center\, The Atwater Kent Collection at Drexel University\, The Ivy Lodge Collection\, The Germantown Historical Society\, The Library of Congress\, William Faris\, Ian Hughes\, and John P. SUMMARY:TheCrossing: MoM 1: Building a Contemporary Canon\, Edition 1\, presented by ArtPhilly
DESCRIPTION:We tap our vast catalogue of commissioned works for those that examine “Where we are”; the assessment\, if not always optimistic\, is tirelessly honest and inquisitive as heard through the music of some of the country’s most adventurous composers. A new work of Canadian composer Nicole Lizée and works of David Lang\, Shara Nova\, Julia Wolfe\, Michael Gordon\, Stratis Minakakis\, John Luther Adams\, Edie Hill\, Caroline Shaw\, and Gabriel Jackson form a kind of musical quilt that says\, “We are here\, and this is what it feels like to be here.” \nImmigration. Extinction. Resolve. Ailing Planet. \n† ArtPhilly\, whose goal is to establish Philadelphia as a globally recognized hub for arts and culture\, presents a multi-disciplinary citywide “festival of all perspectives\,” connecting audiences to each other through ongoing artistic programming and commissions of original works. \nNicole Lizée’s new work is commissioned by The Crossing and Donald Nally\, Volti\, and Cantori New York.

SUMMARY:2026 Block Party at the Rail Park
DESCRIPTION:Our free family-friendly Block Party showcases our community through fun arts activities and delicious foods!\n\n\nBlock Party returns to the Rail Park this summer! This free family-friendly event showcases our community through fun arts activities and delicious foods\, and various cultural and neighbor organizations. \nAAI’s youth education program will collaborate on a public mural based on a mythological creation story imagined by the students. The story and characters will be rooted in the students’ experiences at AAI\, as well as inherited knowledge about the program. This public work serves to celebrate the legacy of our long-running youth education program\, as well as our beloved community park\, Rail Park. \nThrough an accompanied scavenger hunt\, the mural will invite viewers to interact with it by hinting at clues that implore visitors to explore the landscape in search of three-dimensional works scattered throughout Rail Park. \nThis event is supported by PNC Arts Alive and Friends of the Rail Park.
