DESCRIPTION:Phoenixville is known for its fun downtown area\, which includes historic architecture and a lively arts\, restaurant and brewery scene. Beginning Memorial Day weekend\, Phoenixville’s main avenue\, Bridge St\, turns into a busy pedestrian walkway on Saturdays and Sundays. \nOur hike will begin 1.7 miles from town at the Reynolds Dog Park\, which has a sizeable parking lot and clean restroom facilities. We will walk on the wide\, flat\, gravel towpath trail into Phoenixville. Along the way\, we will pass Fitzwater Station\, a popular canal-side restaurant with outdoor dining and canoe/kayak rentals. Depending on the weather\, we may see kayakers\, the occasional fisherman\, and local turtles sunning on logs in the canal. When we arrive in Phoenixville\, we will walk several blocks up\, then down\, Bridge Street. Highpoints will include the $5 parking lot at Holy Ghost Church\, key restaurants\, specialty shops and breweries. We will then return to the towpath and walk back to our cars for a total of about 4.5 miles. \nSet aside some time in the evening to return to Phoenixville and explore the places in town that interest you. Some group members may agree on a favorite brewery or restaurant and head back into town for a sip and a sandwich. \nWear comfortable walking shoes – the towpath can be muddy after a rain – and layer clothing according to the temperature. Its always good to bring water\, especially on a warm day. Because we will walk through downtown crowds and poke our heads in stores and breweries\, we can’t include dogs in our adventure. \nWe will meet in the parking lot around 3:15pm for our 3:30pm departure. The address is Reynolds Dog Park\, 1000 Longford Rd\, Phoenixville\, 19460. Use this address if Goggle coordinates seem questionable. Use Google maps for best results. (Note: Some online sources say 100 Longford Rd. I think 1000 is correct) \nSeriously bad weather will cancel the outing\, so check the hike status around 1:30pm. \nPlease note: In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws\, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania.

SUMMARY:TERRA: Bodies and Territories
DESCRIPTION:The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education presents TERRA: Bodies and Territories\, an immersive performance staged outdoors on forested land. This innovative theatrical work is the creation of Silvana Cardell\, an acclaimed choreographer whose work contends with social struggles. TERRA: Bodies and Territories confronts the profound shared vulnerabilities between women’s bodies and the natural environment. In this highly experimental work\, a multi-generational ensemble of women and femme dancers enact a sequence of symbolic narratives.\nComposer Devin Arne amplifies the drama of the forest with a sound score that blends field recordings and musical instrumentation. Sculptural set pieces by visual artist Sarah Kavage and costumes by Vasi Zivanic visually complement the natural environment\, the dancers’ movements\, and Cardell’s conceptual themes.\nTERRA will be performed outdoors on June 13\, 14\, 15 and 20\, 21\, and 22.\nPurchase Tickets\nPerformance Space\nTERRA is performed outdoors in a forested space with open seating. Audience members are invited to sit on natural log “seats” and stand or move freely in the performance space. If you need assistance with accommodations due to mobility limitations or if you require guaranteed seating\, please check “yes” on the registration form when you purchase tickets. In case of severe weather\, ticket holders will be contacted via email about rescheduled performances.\nGetting to the Schuylkill Center\nThe Schuylkill Center is located in Upper Roxborough\, Northwest Philadelphia\, at 8480 Hagy’s Mill Road\, Philadelphia\, PA 19128. There is a parking lot and Visitor Center and restrooms on site. Please see our Directions and Maps page for information about getting here via car\, bus\, train\, or bike.\nOn June 15 and 21 a shuttle service is available to the Schuylkill Center from Taller Puertorriqueno (2600 N 5th St\, Philadelphia\, PA 19133) and from the corner of Ridge Ave and Port Royal Ave. For more information about shuttle service\, check the indicated box when you purchase tickets.\nSupport for TERRA\nMajor support for TERRA has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage\, with additional support from Georgian Court University\, and the 2025 Creative Sector Flex Fund\, a program by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
