Experience how people around the world celebrate the winter season with creatively decorated rooms and an array of exciting activities. \nParticipating groups include The Ukrainian League of Philadelphia\, The Mexican Cultural Center / Mercado de Latinas\, The American Swedish Historical Museum\, and the Vendors from Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park. \nOn the first two weekends (December 2\, 3\, 9\, and 10*)\, the Conservancy will highlight a nationality on each day with live music\, regional food\, craft activities\, and other celebrations centered around the country’s cultural traditions. The third weekend (December 16 and 17)\, Fairmount Park Conservancy presents Family Weekend with FREE admission for all. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to patch a hole in socks\, sweaters\, or other knit items. Vegan soup will be provided by Earthside Provisions.\n\n\nThere’s no time like the darkest days of the year to get cozy and work on patching up your warmest woolen clothes! Celebrate the upcoming solstice with a cozy hand-sewing workshop taught by tailor Ruby Gertz\, and catered by Victoria of Earthside Provisions. \n \n$45 workshop fee includes a hot meal of vegan soup and bread from local small businesses\, non-alcoholic seasonal beverages\, and access to embroidery floss and sock yarn in assorted colors. Bring your own socks and other woolens/knits in need of mending. Ruby will teach several different methods of visible mending.   \n \nThis workshop is for adult students ages 18+.
