SUMMARY:Community Paddle Boating at FDR Park
DESCRIPTION:See FDR Park from a new perspective with a paddle on the lake!\n\nDate\nSaturday\, July 18 \n\n\n\nTime\n10:00 am – 2:00 pm \n\n\n\nLocation\nFDR Park Boathouse \nFDR Park\nPhiladelphia PA 19145 \n\n\n\nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and Independence Seaport Museum for free paddle boating at FDR Park on select dates in the spring\, summer\, and fall! \nPaddle boats are an easy and safe way for families and people of all ages to explore Edgewood Lake\, just behind the FDR Park Boathouse. As you pedal around\, use the kid-friendly binoculars provided to spot turtles\, ducks\, blooming flowers\, and maybe even a great blue heron – the long-legged shorebird the boats are shaped after. This event is geared toward our FDR Park neighbors. \nChildren must be able to fit into a life jacket (30+ pounds) in order to participate. All minors must have an adult available to sign for them. \nWaivers will be provided and must be signed before participating. You can do this ahead of time by clicking the ‘sign up for event reminder’ button below. Please include everyone in your party on the form. This will also ensure that you receive any important weather updates that may affect the event. Please note\, clicking the ‘sign up for event reminder’ button does not guarantee a spot on a boat! There is often a line to get on the boats. If the wait time for boarding is longer than 30 minutes\, the line will close before the actual event end time of 2 PM. \nThere is no place to store belongings while out on the water\, so we recommend bringing a small bag/waterproof case to store them in. We suggest having at least two people on each boat to balance pedaling; boats cannot hold more than four people. \nTICKET PRICE: Free\, RSVP appreciated but not required \nABOUT INDEPENDENCE SEAPORT MUSEUM: The Independence Seaport Museum\, located along the Delaware River at Penn’s Landing\, invites visitors of all ages to discover Philadelphia’s river of history and world of connections. With water as the unifying thread\, stories of those who lived and worked along our regional waterways come to life through award-winning exhibitions. Our historic ships\, the Olympia and the Becuna\, connect Philadelphia to the rest of the world\, telling tales about the people and cultures they have interacted with on their journeys. These stories are woven into every aspect of the visitor’s journey\, from the first time they enter the lobby to when they walk off the gangway of Olympia. \n\nQUESTIONS?: Feel free to reach out to programs@myphillypark.org.

SUMMARY:Volunteer-Led Service Day: NE Corner
DESCRIPTION:Meeting Location TBD\nDid you know Wissahickon Valley Park has over 50 miles of trails? Keeping them safe and enjoyable takes ongoing work\, and our trained Crew Leaders play a key role in this\, guiding small teams of Zone Stewards to care for different sections of the park. \nThis Saturday\, we’re bringing extra volunteer support to the park’s Northeast corner (Chestnut Hill area) for a variety of stewardship tasks. This service day is one in a series of Zone Steward-led service events happening throughout the summer. \nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities: \n• Trail work: using long-handled tools for scraping\, digging\, tamping\, and cutting; moving heavy objects\n• Drain-clearing: carrying and using long handled tools\n• Litter clean-up \nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email one business day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people\, please reach out to us first. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org. \nRegister Below!\n<!–\nIf you embed multiple forms on your page\, only copy one of the lines.\nOtherwise\, multiple copies of the form will appear.\n–>

Follow Rosalind and her friends down the woodland path at the Schuylkill center\, sing songs with troubadours\, picnic with lost courtiers\, help Orlando write terrible love poetry\, and help everyone find true love in this interactive production where you are a part of the story! \nTickets \nAs You Like It will be performed at the Schuylkill Center on these dates: Friday\, July 10\, Saturday\, July 11\, Friday\, July 17 and Saturday\, July 18. A Schuylkill Center Member exclusive performance will take place on Thursday\, July 9. \nIndecorous Theater: At Indecorous Theatre Productions our mission is to take away the gated community feel from the Classics and make them accessible and available to the people for which they were written. These stories are for everyone and for today. They still resonate and grow and change. Using the beauty of these texts that have beaten time we want to tell new stories with new bodies and open up the conversation. Because at the end of the day\, this work\, these words\, and art is about real people and all the diversity and change and indecorous energy real people create.

The construction of Cliveden occurred during this violent time. A growing household of over twenty people at Cliveden reshaped their identities and looked to retain or procure their liberty at a time when discussions of freedom and independence were in everyone’s thoughts. This exhibit explores their experiences and struggles as a new nation formed. \nProcuring Liberty in the Emerging Nation is made possible by the generous support of The Mill Spring Foundation\, The Haley Foundation\, the Richard Dietrich III Foundation\, The Chester County History Center\, The Atwater Kent Collection at Drexel University\, The Ivy Lodge Collection\, The Germantown Historical Society\, The Library of Congress\, William Faris\, Ian Hughes\, and John P.
