SUMMARY:Sourcing at Magic Education: Sustainable from the Start
DESCRIPTION:Join virtually and catch a live stream of panel topic “Sustainable from the Start” taking place at Sourcing at Magic\, Las Vegas.\n\n\nVirtual Live Stream of Education Session: Sustainable from the Start \nIt’s the perfect way to join if you’re unable to make it in-person to the Sourcing at Magic\, Las Vegas show February 14th! Panel begins promptly at 12:30pm PT/3:30pm ET and will be recorded. Thirty minutes before the event begins\, registered attendees will be emailed the event Zoom link. \nSustainable from the Start Education Topic: \nBig business is in the crosshairs first\, but sooner – not later – every brand and every designer will need to account for the footprint of their collections. From facing fines to being refused retail space\, or even having shipments turned away at the border\, the risks of not knowing the sustainability profile of your products are getting higher. \nBut what does it actually mean to start building that knowledge now? How far can technology help? And when you do have the data to understand your impact\, how can you act on it without completely overhauling the way you work? \nJoin Ben and Camille for a breakdown of the mandate and the mechanics for a new model of design and sourcing that starts with impact in mind. Then start your sustainable sourcing journey! \nSpeakers: \nBen Hanson\, Editor-in-Chief\, The Interline \nCamille Tagle\, Co-Founder + Creative Director\, FABSCRAP \nConsider adding a donation to FABSCRAP when registering: \nYour gift can help fund FAB essentials like our warehouse supplies such as scissors\, duct tape\, trash bags\, gaylord boxes\, and pallets! \n\n$10 Donation provides each sorting station with staple removers or scissors for deconstructing fabric headers\, and also helps cover the routine scissor sharpening maintenance.\n$30 Donation covers one box of black or clear trash bags used to sort and store scraps.\n$50 Donation will pay for one gaylord and/or pallet. We use about 10 per month to store and transport our scraps for recycling.

SUMMARY:Connecting with Nature: Valentine’s Hike + Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Rekindle your love of nature in the heart of winter with this Valentine’s hike on the trails. \n\n\nDATE\nSunday\, February 11\, 2024 \n\n\n\nTIME\n10:00am – 12:30pm \n\n\n\nLOCATION\nFriends of Chamounix Tennis Courts\n50 Chamounix Dr\nPhiladelphia\, PA 19131 \n\n\n\n\nRekindle your love of nature in the heart of winter. Join Fairmount Park Conservancy and ecotherapist/Lenape language keeper Krista Nelson on a two-mile guided Valentine’s hike and meditation on Sunday\, February 11 from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM. \nBetter than a box of chocolates\, we’ll make sure Mother Nature is seen and heard. Witnessing the sights and sounds of nature\, especially in winter\, demonstrates our highest level of appreciation. “Witnessing is the first step in nurturing a relationship. And a deeper relationship with nature is good medicine for everyone\,” Krista teaches in her Nature As Lover program. \nWe will hike on the historic Trolley Trail\, stopping to listen and closely observe the natural surroundings. Our journey will lead us along the Chamounix Creek\, where we will spread out in seated positions at the water’s edge and collectively meditate\, accompanied by the reassuring rhythmic sounds of the flowing water. Then\, we will accompany the sound of the creek with our own spontaneous music. Krista calls this practice of listening to water and reciprocating with sound\, “Creek Drinking.” She says\, “When we take sips of the creek with our ears and respond with music\, we can process feelings of isolation.” This is next-level reciprocity! \nFinally\, we’ll gather at a historic picnic pavilion for a fireside celebration. The light and warmth of the fire will remind us that longer days are returning and spring is on the way. Hot chocolate\, s’mores\, and other snacks will be available. \nEstimated distance: about two miles\nLevel: moderate\nTerrain: mainly hilly trails \n\nTICKET PRICE: $15\n\n\nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO: \n\nThe hike is roughly two miles over mainly hilly trails.\nAppropriate for adults and mature adolescents.\nPlease dress according to weather conditions and wear good hiking shoes (boots/sneakers).\nBring water (drinking water is not available in the park) and a snack.\nUnfortunately\, there are no bathrooms along the hike route so please plan accordingly.\nWe will leave a few minutes after the scheduled start time. Please arrive at the departure location at least five minutes early. We cannot guarantee that latecomers can join after the group has departed.\n\n\nPARKING/GETTING THERE: We’ll meet at the parking lot across from the Friends of Chamounix tennis courts. There is plenty of free parking available in the lot. As always\, NEVER leave valuables in your car! If traveling by public transit\, the nearest stop is at Belmont Ave and Belmont Mansion/Fairmount Park Drive – a half-mile walk from the start. The closest Indego bike station is at Parkside and Belmont Ave – also a half-mile walk from the start. \n\nQUESTIONS? Please reach out to programs@myphillypark.org \n

SUMMARY:Ravel by Krista Dedrick-Lai - Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:A solo exhibition by Philadelphia-based artist Krista Dedrick-Lai. \nFebruary 10 – March 23\, 2024 \nRavel is an interesting word. A contranym. It can be both a noun and a verb. It can mean both tangle and untangle. And isn’t that how life can be sometimes? We find ourselves in a great big mess. And the more we try to tease the mess apart and get everything back in order\, the more jumbled it becomes. In the end there is no reweaving the unraveled tapestry\, not really. There is simply taking the threads you have at your feet and starting again.
