SUMMARY:Self Care Sundays
DESCRIPTION:Black Lotus Holistic Health Collective presents Self Care Sundays with meditation and yoga classes.\n\n\nWelcome to Self Care Sundays! Join us on Sundays at 11:00 AM for some time dedicated to self-care and relaxation. This event will take place at Black Lotus HHC at 206 Rittenhousetown Lane\, where you can unwind and focus on yourself. \nTake part in yoga sessions\, meditation exercises\, and mindfulness activities to rejuvenate your mind and body. Treat yourself to healthy snacks and refreshments while connecting with like-minded individuals. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to prioritize your well-being and practice self-love. See you there! \n\n\n\n\nMore about Black Lotus HHC \n \nBlack Lotus Holistic Healing Collective is known for is a space designed for BIPOC healers/practitioners to be centered in the healing in order for them to heal those in the BIPOC community. Vibrational healing is the ancient art of healing with sound; it traces back to ancient Egypt & Tibet. Sound vibrations can heal the physical body at a cellular level by adjusting blockages and imbalances. These imbalances can cause the body to have a slower frequency vibration which may lead to dis-ease or illnesses. Natural healing sound frequencies can be transferred or introduced externally or directly into the body to create a more harmonious state. \nAt Black Lotus\, we combine the use of crystal chakra singing bowls\, gongs\, tuning forks\, and more to give a relaxing & transformative experience. We can balance chakras\, repair auras\, uplift the mood or help with grounding. Vibrational healing is a great tool for meditation\, alleviating stress\, and relaxing stiff or sore muscles. \nFor more visit: www.diasporaeducationalservices.org/black-lotus \nhttps://linktr.ee/blacklotushhc \n\n\n\nDIRECTIONS: \n \nBlack Lotus is not on Lincoln Drive despite the address…it is actually on Rittenhousetown Lane. SUMMARY:Dismantling the Master’s Clock
DESCRIPTION:Spend Harriett Tubman Day Dismantling the Master’s Clock w/ Rasheedah Phillips.\n\n\n Dismantling the Master’s Clock \nJoin us on Mon Mar 10 2025 at 7:00 PM at Harriett’s Bookshop for an evening of thought-provoking discussions and reflections. A radical new treatise on time\, quantum physics\, and racial justice from world-renowned artist and advocate Rasheedah Phillips of Black Quantum Futurism. \nWhy do some processes—like aging\, birth\, and car crashes—occur in only one direction in time\, when by the fundamental symmetry of the universe\, we should experience time both forward and backward? Our dominant perception of time owes more to Western history and social order than to a fact of nature\, argues writer Rasheedah Phillips\, delving into Black and Afrodiasporic conceptions of time\, where the past\, present\, and future interact in more numerous constellations. \nPhillips unfolds the history of time and its legacy of racial oppression\, from colonial exploration and the plantation system to the establishment of Daylight Savings. Yet Black communities have long subverted space-time through such tools of resistance as Juneteenth\, tenant organizing\, ritual\, and time travel. What could Black liberation look like if the past were as changeable as the future? \nDrawing on philosophy\, archival research\, quantum physics\, and Phillips’s own art practice and work on housing policy\, Dismantling the Master’s Clock expands the horizons of what can be imagined and\, ultimately\, achieved. \n \n“A queer\, Black\, reconstructive tour de force.” —Fred Moten \n“The field of deep Black contemplation we’ve been waiting for.” —Alexis Pauline Gumbs \n“Phillips invites us into a real-world laboratory of situated analysis and experimentation that takesseriously the material nature of imaginings.” —Karen Barad \n“This is revolutionary work.” —Tricia Hersey \n“An invitation to reconstruct all that we accept in relation to time and existence.” —Kimberly Drew \n“A gorgeous weaving of art\, science\, and activism inspires the mind and recharges the heart.” —Michelle M. Wright \n“Dismantling the Master’s Clock reorganizes our collective worlds … the bereft economies of juridical time.” — Katherine McKittrick \n“A call to mutiny against the violence of colonized\, imperial\, genocidal time. Amen!” —Legacy Russell

SUMMARY:Uncle Bobbie's X Mohammed El-Kurd - Perfect Victims Book Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Uncle Bobbie’s as we welcome award-winning poet and journalist Mohammad El-Kurd for the release of his book\, Perfect Victims.\n\n\nRESCHEDULED TO MONDAY\, MARCH 10TH AT 7:00PM \nWe are thrilled to welcome poet\, journalist\, and organizer\, Mohammed El-Kurd for the release of his newest book\, Perfect Victims and the Politics of Appeal. \nMohammed will be in conversation with author\, activist and Uncle Bobbie’s owner\, Marc Lamont Hill. The need for this discussion couldn’t be greater and will be followed by a Q&A with the community. \nAll copies of Perfect Victims will be signed. \nSee you all there for this important event. \n****** \nAbout the book: \nPerfect Victims is an urgent affirmation of the Palestinian condition of resistance and refusal―an ode to the steadfastness of a nation. \nPalestine is a microcosm of the world: on fire\, stubborn\, fragmented\, dignified. While a settler colonial state continues to inflict devastating violence\, fundamental truths are deliberately obscured—the perpetrators are coddled while the victims are blamed and placed on trial. \nWhy must Palestinians prove their humanity? And what are the implications of such an infuriatingly impossible task? With fearless prose and lyrical precision\, Mohammed El-Kurd refuses a life spent in cross-examination. Rather than asking the oppressed to perform a perfect victimhood\, El-Kurd asks friends and foes alike to look Palestinians in the eye\, forgoing both deference and condemnation. \nHow we see Palestine reveals how we see each other; how we see everything else. Masterfully combining candid testimony\, history\, and reportage\, Perfect Victims presents a powerfully simple demand: dignity for the Palestinian. \n \nAbout the author: \nMohammed El-Kurd is a writer\, poet\, journalist\, and organizer from Jerusalem\, occupied Palestine. He is the Nation’s first-ever Palestine Correspondent and editor-at-large at Mondoweiss\, the recipient of numerous honors and awards\, and the author of the highly-acclaimed poetry collection Rifqa\, which has been translated into several languages. \n… \nDoors open at 6:00pm. \nBuy your book now and save on the General Admission fee! \nAll tickets are non-refundable. \nStreet parking available. Wheelchair accessible entrance also available through the rear parking lot. \nChildren older than 5-years old need a ticket for entry.
