They hold spirit\, resistance\, celebration\, protection\, and transformation. \nIn this immersive clay workshop at ACAF in Philadelphia\, participants will be introduced to a glimpse of Afro-diasporic mask histories across continents—beginning with ceremonial mask traditions of West and Central Africa\, tracing their transformation through the Caribbean and South America during and after the transatlantic slave trade\, and exploring how these visual languages continue to evolve in contemporary U.S. cultural practices. \nTogether\, we’ll examine how masks function as portals and preservation of identity. \nParticipants will then learn handbuilding techniques to create their own clay masks. \n✨ No experience necessary \n✨ All clay & supplies included \nThis workshop uses air-dry clay\, so pieces will require about 24 hours to fully dry before painting.

Coaches will help riders work on the basics of balance\, braking\, starting\, stopping\, steering\, and building comfort on the bike. \nBikes and helmets will be provided. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. Whether you are looking to establish fundamental techniques or explore the bounds of your creativity and imagination\, this class is for you! \nClass will run Tuesday nights January 20th – February 24th 6pm – 9pm \n—— \nPlease note that this workshop takes place in the Utility Works basement\, which is only accessible via stairs. See map for details.\nBathrooms: There will be bathroom access at the Valley Green Inn before we walk over to Devil’s Pool.\nWould you like to be part of keeping the Wissahickon Valley watershed healthy and litter-free? Then join us on Tuesday mornings this summer for a Devil’s Pool Clean-up!\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Litter clean-up: carrying trash bags up to 20 lbs\, hiking up to 1.5 miles\, navigating rocky terrain\n• Repetitive motions\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Whether you’re brand new to exercise or already active and looking for community\, this space welcomes women of all ages and fitness levels. \n \nWe’ll begin with a 30-minute outdoor group workout led by fitness coach Adja\, featuring light hand weights and simple\, effective movements that help wake up the body\, improve mobility\, and build strength in a fun and supportive atmosphere. \n \nWhat to bring: \n\nA pair of light weights (2.5–5 lbs)\nA towel\nYoga Mat\nGood vibes and an open mind\n\nAfter we move our bodies\, we’ll transition into a 45-minute Sister Circle conversation. During this time\, we’ll use guided prompt cards featuring 15 thoughtful questions focused on: \n• Self-care practices \n• Becoming the best version of yourself \n• Work–life balance \n• Supporting one another through life’s seasons \n \nThe goal is to create a safe space where women can connect\, reflect\, and feel seen. \nTo close out our wellness day together\, we’ll take a peaceful walk around the garden\, allowing time to ground ourselves in nature and community. \n \nLight snacks\, fruit\, and water will be provided\, so all you have to do is show up ready to try a new way to move\, connect\, and care for yourself. \n \nSis Walks & Talks believes wellness should feel accessible\, joyful\, and rooted in sisterhood.
