SUMMARY:Mausoleum Hill Community Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Mount Moriah Cemetery invites neighbors and history lovers to join a cleanup day at Mausoleum Hill on the Yeadon side of the cemetery. \nVolunteers will work to restore Mausoleum Hill\, home to some of the cemetery’s most notable structures and the final resting places of people whose lives are woven into the fabric of Philadelphia history. \nPlease bring personal hand tools\, gloves\, and safety gear. We have a limited supply to lend\, so the more you can bring\, the better. Gas-powered weed whackers are especially helpful. Pack a lunch\, water\, sunscreen\, and bug spray. This is a come-and-go event. Show up when you can\, stay as long as you’re able. Anyone is free to help out. Families\, scouts\, and service organizations are encouraged to join. \nMount Moriah has always been a place for the whole community\, and the work of restoring this place starts with neighbors like you. We hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Virtual Toad Detour Training Session
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to protect our toads! Toad Detour protects the local toad population as they migrate to and from their breeding grounds each spring. When the toads emerge from brumation (the reptile version of hibernation) in early spring\, hundreds of them cross Port Royal\, Hagy’s Mill and other nearby roads to mate in the Roxborough Reservoir or the Schuylkill Center’s ponds. On select nights\, when the conditions are just right\, Toad Detour volunteers erect barricades and help divert traffic during busy toad crossing evenings\, saving hundreds of toads. \nSign up to receive a link to the Zoom meeting. \nWant to be included in all Toad Detour news? Join the Facebook group or send an email to volunteer@schuylkillcenter.org to stay in the loop.

SUMMARY:Lincoln Drive Clean-Up
DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Historic Rittenhouse Town \nWe will be meeting near the kiosk on Rittenhouse Lane at Historic Rittenhouse Town. See this map for the specific meeting location and parking options. Please note that the road closure on Lincoln Drive (between Wissahickon Avenue and Ridge Avenue) will go into effect at 8:00am\, so plan your travel accordingly. If you are driving\, you will need to park on neighborhood streets and walk to the meeting location. Be sure to give yourself enough time to get to the meet-up location. \nLincoln Drive is the only main road that runs right next to the creek within Wissahickon Valley Park\, and one that few have had the opportunity to walk on.  This Saturday\, we’re partnering with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation to close Lincoln Drive from Wissahickon Avenue to Ridge Avenue for a large-scale clean-up along this heavily traveled (and often heavily littered) road. Come help us keep this section of the creek clean and beautiful! \nNo experience is needed. We provide gloves\, tools and instruction – you just need to show up! Volunteer service Days are excellent\, easy ways to help us take care of Wissahickon Valley Park. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and bring a water bottle with you. Detailed information and the specific meeting location will be sent by email the day before the event. For more information contact Amelia Marren at marren@fow.org
