SUMMARY:Design A Doodad: Travel Game Zine
DESCRIPTION:BARRIO TELEVISION (work in progress) by Christina DiPasquale\n(USA\, 2026\, TBD) \nBARRIO TELEVISION uncovers the story of Puerto Rican activists who produced the first bilingual Latino television series to air nationwide called “Realidades.” After tracing U.S. complicity in the 1973 coup in Chile\, “Realidades” received backlash and the Nixon administration moved to cut public-media funding\, knocking the show off the air. Undeterred\, the creators mounted a comeback—training media makers in Philadelphia\, organizing a media coalition\, and sparking a fight for media power that continues to this day. \nChristina DiPasquale is a Colombian-American storyteller based in Philadelphia dedicated to advancing participatory media practices rooted in collective memory and movement-building.

SUMMARY:Girls' High Library Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:The Girls’ High Library was once a vibrant hub of learning\, creativity\, and inspiration. However\, it has been closed since 2013. Its research materials still include World Book Encyclopedias and a physical card catalog. There is no access to digital books\, electronic research materials\, periodicals\, and other critical technological resources to ensure that our students can excel and compete academically. Despite our school’s successes and strengths\, our students cannot effectively engage with their present education and prepare for life after graduation without a library and a technologically accessible resource center. \nThis fundraiser aims to restore the library to its former glory while incorporating modern resources to empower current and future students. We aim to provide a state-of-the-art library and resource center staffed with librarians so Girls’ High girls can thrive. And now\, there are three ways you can support\, including our Library Fundraiser planned for Sunday\, May 18th.

SUMMARY:Power Politics: Oral History Series
DESCRIPTION:A series to explore Black and Puerto Rican political thought\, activism\, and storytelling through screenings of oral history interviews. \nThe Power Politics Listen-Ins at the Free Library of Philadelphia is a series hosted by Scribe Video Center to explore Black and Puerto Rican political thought\, activism\, and community storytelling through screenings of oral history interviews and discussion. \nThe April 14th oral history will focus on John Churchville (b. 1941). Churchville will be joining us for a screening of his interview as well as a Live Q&A session. \nABOUT JOHN CHURCHVILLE:\n“Black Power stressed that Black people should be in control of Black communities. In Philadelphia\, early Black Power initiatives included projects to raise awareness of African and African American history and culture\, including the Freedom Library on Ridge Avenue in North Philadelphia\, opened in 1964 by John Churchville (b. 1941). Churchville and other activists who gathered at Freedom Library formed Philadelphia’s first Black Power political organization\, the Black People’s Unity Movement (BPUM)\, in 1965.” – The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia \nFuture sessions: \nApril 21st – Barbara Easley-Cox \nApril 28th – TBD \nMay 5th – Bilal Qayyum \nMay 12th – Rev. Pamela Williams \nMay 19th – Joann Bell \nEach session will feature immersive audio stories followed by a guided discussion\, creating space for reflection\, conversation\, and collective learning. Whether you’re a historian\, organizer\, artist\, or simply curious\, this series offers a chance to connect with powerful narratives that shape our world.
