SUMMARY:Cadence in the Clouds
DESCRIPTION:Cadence in the Clouds is an industry night that celebrates the dreamers in Philadelphia; the artists\, the creatives\, the entrepreneurs\, and the supporters of the arts. It is meant to show Philly artists that they don’t need to move out of the city to have a thriving career. Philly is a city rich in history\, and they should be a part of it given the necessary resources and connections. We aim to create the industry night that puts all of those people in one room\, while using all local Philadelphia businesses and artists\, to make a night where people connect and collaborate through the language of music. While patrons get to enjoy a live concert featuring music from DJ Bear One\, A.Rob\, and Sahlii\, their ticket also comes with artist bios\, raffles for a studio session and a photography/music video shoot\, live art\, complimentary snacks and sweets\, and so much more. \nThis particular concert is all about celebrating artists who are courageous enough to use their music and their art to make a change and stand up to what is going on in the world. It’s meant to show that while some pay punish you for speaking up\, we will highlight you\, putting you on our stage to amplify your voice. Every artist and business who is taking part has used their platform as a release\, and as a means to protest everything happening in the world. By purchasing tickets or any of the art that will be at the event\, you are directly putting money into the pockets of Black and Brown artists.

SUMMARY:WINE+WHINE // Advocacy\, Sips\, and Networking
DESCRIPTION:After election season\, there’s no better way to regroup and prepare for the year ahead than by gathering with like-minded individuals who are committed to uplifting their community. On Wednesday\, December 6\, 2023 at 5:30pm the NExT Philadelphia Advocacy Committee will be hosting WINE+WHINE | Advocacy\, Sips & Networking at BlacOak Tasting Room (6139 Ridge Avenue Philadelphia PA 19128). \nLetters are an extremely effective way of communicating with your elected officials. Many legislators believe that a letter represents not only the position of the writer but also many other constituents who did not take the time to write. At this unique gathering\, you will have the opportunity to network with passionate community advocates who share your vision for a better future\, and participate in a special workshop to empower your voice and engage with your elected officials in a meaningful way. \nDuring the mixer\, we will have cards for you to personalize and send to your elected officials. These cards go beyond the usual holiday greetings. They serve as a “gentle” reminder of the work we expect from our representatives when they return to session. Our storytelling workshop\, featuring special guests\, will teach you how to effectively share your story and advocate for policy change. \nBut there’s EVEN more to the evening than just advocacy and networking. The BlacOak Wine Club\, our gracious host for the event\, takes pride in highlighting underserved black-owned wine and spirit brands that are trailblazing in their industry. By savoring their offerings\, you support an essential lifeline to black-owned wine brands\, giving them the space they deserve in an industry traditionally occupied by those lacking melanin. And our partner\, the Hip Hop Caucus\, is a national non-profit\, non-partisan organization that connects the Hip Hop community to the civic process to build power and create positive change. \nLet’s raise our glasses\, share our thoughts\, and collectively make a positive impact on our community. WINE+WHINE is more than just an event; it’s a platform for change\, a celebration of creativity\, and a toast to empowerment. RSVP now and be a voice for your community! \nPlease note that all BlacOak events are conducted in strict accordance with Pennsylvania liquor laws\, and the wines you’ll enjoy at the tasting room are exclusively produced in Pennsylvania. You must be 21 YEARS OLD OR ABOVE TO ATTEND. \n👔 Dress: Professional Attire / Business Casual
