SUMMARY:Classical Concert
DESCRIPTION:…with Organist Tim Evers and the Faith Wasson Flute Studio Ensemble. \nStoneleigh: a natural garden and Media Arts Council (MAC) are excited to partner for opening night of the MAC Classical Festival & Academy. \nResidence organs\, like Stoneleigh’s magnificent 1931 Aeolian-Skinner\, offered in-home entertainment for those who could afford them. This program will include repertoire that would have been played on this organ in the 1930’s\, as well as timeless favorites. Friday night’s featured performer and master class instructor is Tim Evers\, director of music at Westminster Presbyterian in West Chester. The student ensemble is made up of players from the Faith Wasson Flute Studio in Glenside. \nThis three-day festival brings together professional musicians and selected high school ensembles from around Pennsylvania for a master class during the day and a joint performance in the evening. This event gives students a chance to learn and grow from experienced professionals while performing in a setting outside of their schools and allows audiences to gather a deeper understanding of music in a relaxed and open atmosphere. \nClick here for more information and tickets. \n

SUMMARY:Art and Connect with NextGen at Bok
DESCRIPTION:Studio Incamminati and Natural Lands’ NextGen Council invite you\, especially if you’re in your 20s\, 30s\, or 40s\, to an exciting exhibit of original art: Gregory Blue and the Landscapes of Stroud Preserve. This special evening celebration will mark the commencement of the dazzling exhibit\, which features 40+ works\, large and small\, inspired by Natural Lands’ Stroud Preserve and created by artist Gregory Blue over the last several years. \nStudio Incamminati\, which will host the exhibit\, has been at the forefront of the contemporary realist art movement for two decades. Founded by Nelson and Leona Shanks\, it is now recognized internationally for its rigorous curriculum\, accomplished instructors\, and diverse outreach efforts. \nStudio Incamminati makes its home in South Philadelphia’s Bok building\,  an old school turned workspace — full of makers\, businesses\, nonprofits\, and artists. Gregory’s work will be showcased from February 29 to May 3. \nNatural Lands’ Next Gen council raises awareness of Natural Lands throughout the region and promotes opportunities for people in their 20s\, 30s\, and 40s to get involved in our work. Join us for a meet and greet with the artist in a unique and fun venue. \nThe Bok Bar is bringing the cash bar to the Studio. If the weather cooperates\, enjoy your drink on the roof of the 7th floor overlooking the skyline of Philadelphia. There is no charge to attend. Bring a friend and enjoy an evening of art at the Bok. \nLove this painting? Attend the event\, finish the scavenger hunt\, and be entered into a raffle for your chance to win this print – a closed edition of 100 prints on German etching paper\, signed and dated by the artist. \n \nAbout the artist – Gregory Blue:  \nFor more than 40 years\, Gregory Blue’s landscape paintings have taken inspiration from the bucolic imagery and natural beauty of the region of Bucks and Chester County\, Pennsylvania. As the first major exhibition of Blue’s work in almost 20 years\, this show opens a fascinating view into the artist’s evolving process and approach. Blue’s world vision is saturated with color\, patterns\, and textures encountered at various times of day under changing light conditions. The resulting exploration is a symphony of highly controlled yet powerfully dramatic tableaux that resound with brilliantly colored\, evocatively illuminated rural scenes typical of southeastern Pennsylvania. \n\n\nGETTING TO STUDIO INCAMMINATI \n\n\n\n\nStudio Incamminati is located in Building Bok at 1901 S 9th Street\, 7th Floor\, and accessible by auto or public transit. We are wheelchair accessible. Here is a floor plan to help you find your way to the elevators. \n\nThe main visitor entrance is located at 821 Dudley Street – there’s a coffee shop and a breakfast/lunch place here if you arrive in the AM or early PM.\nOn-street parking is available (See parking map here). If possible\, we recommend using public transit or rideshare. If you are driving and can’t find a spot on the street there is a free municipal lot at 1628 E. Passyunk Ave. and a pay garage at 1485 McKean Street.\nClosest subway station: Tasker – Morris\, Broad Street Line\nNearby Septa bus routes: 45\, 47\, 47M\, 79\nBicycles: BOK is an Indego bike share location with a kiosk located on the corner of 8th and Mifflin Streets. We also have plenty of bike parking available next to the entrance on 9th Street.

SUMMARY:The Secret Garden: Kids Read and Explore
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a day out\, on your day off. Natural Lands is pleased to partner with Longwood Gardens’ 11th annual Community Read initiative with a look at how gardening is good for all.   \nWe’ll read The Secret Garden\, based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett and adapted by Calista Brill\, and celebrate the spring season. After the story\, we‘ll explore Binky Lee’s secret garden and search for flowers\, connect to nature\, and enjoy fresh air… just like the main character\, Mary Lennox.  \nFamilies are invited to attend these nature discovery events designed to inspire a sense of wonder about the natural world. Through the sharing of stories each playful exploration engages both adults and children as we make new discoveries about the plants and animals in this beautiful forest habitat. Because we believe that we protect the places that we love\, we hope to inspire young children to feel a friendly\, respectful connection to nature and form a foundation for curiosity and enjoyment to last a lifetime. Families are welcome to stay after the event to enjoy a byo picnic. \nThis event is made possible with generous support from  \nThe Kulicke Fund.
