SUMMARY:Art as Medicine: The Clare Feldman Poliakoff Inaugural Lecture
DESCRIPTION:How does art heal? Can creativity transform healthcare? Join us for the inaugural Clare Feldman Poliakoff Lecture\, where medicine meets artistic expression in a groundbreaking conversation about accessibility\, empathy\, and the power of art to restore and inspire. \nIranian-American cardiologist and visual artist Dr. Nazanin Moghbeli delivers the keynote address\, drawing on her unique practice that transforms EKGs and diagnostic imagery into stunning works bridging Persian calligraphy and modern medicine. As Jefferson Health’s Artist-in-Residence\, Dr. Moghbeli pioneers the use of art to cultivate empathy among healthcare providers and prevent burnout—proving that creativity is not merely decorative\, but essential to healing. \nFollowing the keynote\, a distinguished panel explores how art creates inclusive\, therapeutic experiences across healthcare and community settings. Panelists include Dr. Moghbeli\, Megan Voeller (Director of Humanities at Thomas Jefferson University)\, and Julie Nolan (Recreation Therapy and Creative Arts Therapy\, Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital). \nThis inaugural event honors the Clare Feldman Poliakoff Endowment’s mission to celebrate art’s transformative power—launching on the public opening day of A Nation of Artists\, our landmark exhibition marking America’s 250th anniversary.

SUMMARY:First Friday February 6th @ Arch Enemy Arts
DESCRIPTION:Arch Enemy Arts invites you to join us on Februray 6th from 5 – 9 pm for the opening celebration of four new solo exhibitions\, featuring new-contemporary artists working in a wild range of styles and mediums\, plus The 2026 Spotlight Showcase\, our only open call group exhibition of the year. \nMore about the Shows: \nBabs Webbs’ “Same Window Different Visual” is a raw and emotive series. It is sweeping and intense; at once private\, personal\, delicate and dramatic. The show features five of the Colorado-based artist’s signature drawings\, plus three light-up dimensional works\, and a gorgeously constructed rare sculpture. As a whole\, the collection serves as a gateway into the artist’s dark and ethereal inner world. www.archenemyarts.com/samewindowdifferentvisual2026 \nThe debut solo exhibition by local Philly artist\, Alex Eckman-Lawn is a collection of gorgeous dimensional collages made from hand-cut paper\, constructed in an architecture of mysterious portals\, like catacombs and ghostly terrains. www.archenemyarts.com/ap-alexeckmanlawn \nAndrea Hooge’s “Futures Reimagined” is a series of twelve scratchboard illustrations\, sculptural dioramas\, and layered cutouts by Canadian artist Andrea Hooge. The series reflects on generational conflicts at different times in living memory in scenes that have all of the illustrative whimsy we love about Hooge’s work. www.archenemyarts.com/futuresreimagined2026 \nSpanish pop-surrealist painter Perrilla debuts a romp of madcap monsters lead by powerful big-eyed girls. Perrilla’s work is weird\, surreal\, and full of joy. \nThe 2025 Spotlight Showcase is our annual pulse-check on the new contemporary landscape and an excuse to look beyond the familiar and find what’s next. This year’s lineup features 18 artists new to Arch Enemy Arts from across the globe\, working in a wide range of styles and mediums. www.archenemyarts.com/spotlightshowcase2026

SUMMARY:Dante in Philadelphia: Looking Back and Forward
DESCRIPTION:Join The Print Center for a virtual conversation celebrating Tom Powers’ giant woodblock prints from his “Inferno” series. SUMMARY:Free art show- Tumbling Waters- works by Jason Maybruck
DESCRIPTION:October 1st- 31st\nOpening reception Friday Oct. 3rd 6-9pm \nJason Maybruck is one of the most prolific painters around today. In his work he ruminates on the throughlines of people\, creatures\, and elements that make up a life in the moment and how they are able to transcend time\, how we today can connect with the past\, how we can honor these vital threads of the eternal everyday. His considerations run deep\, although he may work on the surface. His visual vocabulary also aims for layers and exciting depths of details\, where nothing is without consideration. Maybruck is capable of keeping the viewer from getting too lost\, while always joyfully engaged with each painting. Part of a more recent turn of focus\, this series echoes the modern man’s ancestral ties to values and considerations common of Indigenous people of North America\, in particular the Seneca Nation. \nJoin us for the opening reception on Friday Oct. 3rd from 6-9pm. Local libations compliments by Hidden River Brewing Company. \nDo not miss the opportunity to view these wonderful works in person. Stop in the gallery 5 days a week to view. All works are also available for sale online.

SUMMARY:3rd Biennial Exhibition: THE PEACE OF WILD THINGS
DESCRIPTION:Artessa Alliance is excited to announce its 3rd Biennial Exhibition\, “THE PEACE OF WILD THINGS”\, at the renowned Cheltenham Center for the Arts\, September 15 – October 10\, 2025. An Opening Reception will be held on Thursday\, September 18\, 2025\, 6-8pm. \nInspired by Wendell Berry’s poem of the same name\, “The Peace of Wild Things” explores the intersection of nature\, tranquility\, and the human spirit. The exhibition showcases a diverse and vibrant collection of works by members of Artessa Alliance\, a collaborative of Philadelphia women artists. \nHighlights of the exhibition include a meditative installation focused on resilience and transformation\, as well as works inspired by the captivating forms of human life and the natural world—encompassing animals\, plants\, and non-living elements of ecosystems and the environment —that encourage viewers to take a closer look at the world around them. Discover introspective and innovative approaches to photography\, mixed and emerging media\, alongside traditional works that enhance the appeal of this diverse exhibition. Each piece invites viewers to reflect on the restorative power of both explicit and imagined wild places\, as well as the sense of calm they offer amid life’s chaos. \nThe Opening Reception is free and open to the public\, offering attendees the opportunity to meet the artists\, enjoy light refreshments\, and experience an evening that promises an inspiring atmosphere for art lovers\, collectors\, and anyone seeking a moment of peace through the creative process. SUMMARY:Opening Art Exhibtion: Untitled
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition\nUntitled\nSept 8–26\, 2025 \nOpening Reception:\nSept 11 2025\, 5–7pm \nChester County Art Association\n100 N Bradford Ave\nWest Chester\, PA 19382\nDoes an artwork’s title provide a lens that shapes how the viewer will see the work? \nDoes a title provide context\, narrative\, and emotional essence\, hinting at what the artist wants us to feel\, or does it impede the viewer’s interpretation? \nDepending on the artist you ask\, the task of titling work can be an opportunity to take stock of their creation\, or a nebulous exercise in seeking to honor the work and speak to the viewer. \nPhiladelphia CollageWork’s Untitled exhibition invites viewers into the artwork titling process. Based on their observations\, imagination\, and interactions with the work\, viewers will have the opportunity to create a title for each piece in the exhibition. \nWe look forward to a collaborative engagement with the viewers and hope guests will revisit the show to see all the proposed titles.

SUMMARY:TIMELINE
DESCRIPTION:Philadelphia Sculptors\, in partnership with Women for Greater Philadelphia\, announces the outdoor sculpture exhibition TIMELINE at historic Laurel Hill Mansion in East Fairmount Park. The show opens with a free public reception on Friday\, July 18\, 2025\, from 6-8 pm. \nTIMELINE is a dynamic group exhibit that offers a wide-ranging look at the Laurel Hill site and its layered history along the Schuylkill River. Artists\, selected by jurors Nancy Agati and Rachel Zimmerman\, proposed works that respond to the complex timeline of the property\, the mansion itself\, and the many individuals who have lived on\, cared for\, and shaped the land. Laurel Hill Mansion sits on lands that were inhabited for millennia by the Lenni Lenape. \nThe land was acquired by William Penn in 1682\, and the mansion\, built in 1767\, has undergone numerous changes in structure\, ownership\, and use\, from the colonial era to the present. With a focus on the past\, several works in the exhibition address aspects of women’s rights to property\, labor and farming\, trade and commerce\, slavery\, and the abolitionist movement. Artists have engaged with broader themes\, creating works that integrate and connect contemporary viewpoints with historical concepts\, including the passage of time\, displacement\, resilience\, stewardship\, and our human relationship to the land. \nThe property is currently managed by the nonprofit organization Women for Greater Philadelphia. This exhibition marks the kickoff for the series of events at Laurel Hill Mansion that will celebrate the nation’s Semiquincentennial in 2026. \nParticipating artists: Laura Frazure\, Peggy Hartzell\, Brenda Howell\, Sam Horowitz\, Carole Loeffler\, Linda Lorrie Gross\, Jessica Mungekar\, carrie R\, Holly Smith\, Simone Spicer\, Julia Way\, Marisa Williamson. \nExhibition Dates: July 18 – October 17\, 2025\nOpening Reception: Friday\, July 18th\, 6 – 8 pm\nSite hours: Thursdays – Sundays\, 10 am – 4 pm\nLocation: Laurel Hill Mansion\, 3487 Edgley Drive\, East Fairmount Park\, Philadelphia

SUMMARY:Exhibit Opening: Across the Atlantic: Sloopers and the First Organized Emigration from Norway to America
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening of the ASHM Balcony exhibit Across the Atlantic: Sloopers and the First Organized Emigration from Norway to America. \nEnjoy traditional Norwegian recipes\, a special kransekake from MANDEL bakery\, and the opportunity to meet Susan Satkowski\, Honorary Consul General to Norway. \nAcross the Atlantic explores the trans-Atlantic journey of the first organized group of Norwegian immigrants to sail to the United States. Traveling aboard a small sloop called the Restauration\, the 1825 voyage took three months and challenged the strength and resolve of its passengers and crew from the very onset of the journey. The exhibit highlights the Sloopers’ experiences on the open sea and their eventual arrival in the United States. \nAcross the Atlantic: Sloopers and the First Organized Emigration from Norway is part of Crossings Bicentennial in North America. The exhibit is made possible with support from the Sons of Norway Foundation. Additional support for the exhibition opening is provided by NorCham Philadelphia\, IK Start\, and Sons of Norway Restauration Lodge 3-555. \nThe exhibition event is free to the public\, with light refreshments served. SUMMARY:Artist Talk with Steven CW Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Join The Print Center and Steven CW Taylor to hear the artist and gallerist discuss his practice\, his beautiful wood-bound artist book\, his Germantown gallery space and the overarching philosophy of Ubuntu that guides his work. \nTaylor moves between photography\, printmaking and material exploration. His photographs reflect his lived experience shaped by movement\, observation and choice. In 2021\, he founded Ubuntu Fine Art\, a gallery grounded in the principle of Ubuntu – which means “I am an amalgamation of the people I’ve met along the way.” It operates as both a fine art space and a neighborhood anchor. Ubuntu is the thread that connects every image\, conversation and encounter that happens within it. Ubuntu Fine Art is a physical expression of Taylor’s lived philosophy – one that values presence\, curiosity and connection. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Presented in-person and on Zoom. \nRegister for Zoom:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/xdgPWi5CQ9-dimXErsYeqA#/registration \nImage: “SA Blues” Special Edition ©Steven CW Taylor 2025
