SUMMARY:3rd Biennial Exhibition: THE PEACE OF WILD THINGS
DESCRIPTION:Artessa Alliance is excited to announce its 3rd Biennial Exhibition\, “THE PEACE OF WILD THINGS”\, at the renowned Cheltenham Center for the Arts\, September 15 – October 10\, 2025. An Opening Reception will be held on Thursday\, September 18\, 2025\, 6-8pm. \nInspired by Wendell Berry’s poem of the same name\, “The Peace of Wild Things” explores the intersection of nature\, tranquility\, and the human spirit. The exhibition showcases a diverse and vibrant collection of works by members of Artessa Alliance\, a collaborative of Philadelphia women artists. \nHighlights of the exhibition include a meditative installation focused on resilience and transformation\, as well as works inspired by the captivating forms of human life and the natural world—encompassing animals\, plants\, and non-living elements of ecosystems and the environment —that encourage viewers to take a closer look at the world around them. Discover introspective and innovative approaches to photography\, mixed and emerging media\, alongside traditional works that enhance the appeal of this diverse exhibition. Each piece invites viewers to reflect on the restorative power of both explicit and imagined wild places\, as well as the sense of calm they offer amid life’s chaos. \nThe Opening Reception is free and open to the public\, offering attendees the opportunity to meet the artists\, enjoy light refreshments\, and experience an evening that promises an inspiring atmosphere for art lovers\, collectors\, and anyone seeking a moment of peace through the creative process. We hope this exhibition provides visitors with a space to pause and rediscover the solace found in the wild.

SUMMARY:Opening Art Exhibtion: Untitled
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition\nUntitled\nSept 8–26\, 2025 \nOpening Reception:\nSept 11 2025\, 5–7pm \nChester County Art Association\n100 N Bradford Ave\nWest Chester\, PA 19382\nDoes an artwork’s title provide a lens that shapes how the viewer will see the work? \nDoes a title provide context\, narrative\, and emotional essence\, hinting at what the artist wants us to feel\, or does it impede the viewer’s interpretation? \nDepending on the artist you ask\, the task of titling work can be an opportunity to take stock of their creation\, or a nebulous exercise in seeking to honor the work and speak to the viewer. \nPhiladelphia CollageWork’s Untitled exhibition invites viewers into the artwork titling process. Based on their observations\, imagination\, and interactions with the work\, viewers will have the opportunity to create a title for each piece in the exhibition. \nWe look forward to a collaborative engagement with the viewers and hope guests will revisit the show to see all the proposed titles.

SUMMARY:Buen Camino
DESCRIPTION:Touring from Hawaii\, Susan Edsall brings “Buen Camino\,” directed and developed by Jessica Lynn Johnson\, to the Yellow Bicycle Theatre (1435 Arch St) for the 2025 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. \nSusan has a perfect life\, a perfect love\, and perfect happiness. When she suddenly undergoes an unexpected loss\, her perfect life ends. Consumed by excruciating pain\, she finds it impossible to imagine any future worth living.\nUntil\, on an ordinary trip to the grocery store\, she hears The Voice. The trouble is\, Susan doesn’t believe in Voices. And yet\, when The Voice tells her to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain\, she obeys despite knowing nothing about this ancient pilgrimage. \nAt rock bottom\, Susan has nothing left to lose except the stories that bind her to the past. With the help of some improbable Spiritual Guides\, a little bit of magic\, and the Camino itself\, Susan must face her past to have any hope of creating her future. \nAlone on stage\, she becomes 23 characters to take the audience on her solitary walk through 540 miles of rain\, resentment\, and redemption. “Buen Camino” is a moving story of how grief can lead to surrender and ultimately to freedom. \n“Through the vivid\, funny and at times heartbreaking story of an excruciating and intense time in her life\, she magically transfers her own metamorphoses\, from profoundly bereft widow to hopeful\, determined and inspiring human\, to us — the audience. Both the performer and the observers undoubtedly changed by art created out of tragedy.” –NoHo Arts District

SUMMARY:20/20 Photo Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 20/20 Photo Festival is a celebration of photography that brings together the Philadelphia photo community through city-wide exhibitions\, educational programming\, and a book fair. Originally organized in 2020 by representatives from Gravy Studio\, The Halide Project\, and Wanderlife Gallery\, the festival has built a strong reputation from its inaugural year as a month-long virtual event to its current in-person manifestation. It brings together a wide range of perspectives from emerging and established photographers from Philadelphia and beyond\, reflecting the diversity of contemporary photography\, and foregrounds the goal of making art accessible and bringing it into the public sphere through free programming designed to inspire and educate. This includes exhibitions\, workshops and demonstrations\, artist talks\, panel discussions\, and a renowned book fair. We are excited to continue another year of planning events and exhibitions to display the amazing photography community in Philadelphia in 2025.
