SUMMARY:Philly Unwrapped Community Waste Reduction Engagement Session
DESCRIPTION:Philly Unwrapped is a coalition-driven initiative working to establish a city-wide reuse system in Philadelphia. Our work is focused on reducing single-use waste\, protecting public health\, and creating the conditions for reuse to become standard practice across our city’s businesses\, institutions\, and communities. \nWe invite you to join us for our next in-person session\, hosted in partnership with Germantown United CDC at Our House Culture Center on Germantown Avenue. This session is part of a six-part series that includes both virtual and in-person convening each one an opportunity to deepen our collective understanding\, strengthen partnerships\, and move this work forward together. \nFood will be provided and Spanish interpretation will be available. Space is limited to 30 seats\, so please register early and plan to arrive on time. \nThis session will focus on two areas: \nFirst\, we will examine the business case for reuse. Participants will share real examples of organizations transitioning away from single-use packaging and serviceware\, including the financial savings\, operational considerations\, and the impact on customer health and community trust.\nSecond\, Trash Academy will lead a community engagement session where participants are invited to share their own questions\, barriers\, and considerations around reuse adoption. This is an important part of our process. Building a system that works for Philadelphia requires honest input from the organizations and communities who will be part of it.\nWe are asking food and beverage businesses\, city agencies\, NGOs\, BIDs\, neighborhood associations\, and concerned residents to register\, attend\, and stay engaged. This work depends on sustained participation from across the city. \nBusinesses that attend will also gain access to future grant opportunities to support their transition to reuse. \nBest Regards\, Partners and Collaborators\, \nECHO Systems\nGermantown United CDC\nThe Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia\nTrash Academy\nRethink Disposable\, a project of Clean Water Fund\nAnd the Philly Unwrapped Coalition

SUMMARY:Wish Wall
DESCRIPTION:What do you want America to be like in the future? Perhaps you have a wish for your own future. \nVisit our wish wall\, located in the 2nd Floor West Gallery\, and write or draw your vision for our nation’s future. By advancing literacy\, guiding learning\, and inspiring curiosity\, the Free Library of Philadelphia can provide avenues for patrons to work towards making their wishes into reality. \nThis program is a part of the exhibition celebrating America’s 250th\, Philadelphia: For the People\, which will be on display from May 2026 – January 2027 in the 2nd Floor West Gallery of the Parkway Central Library.

SUMMARY:The Future Faces of Religious Freedom: A Children’s Program to Celebrate Religious Diversity
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a joyful\, family-friendly interfaith experience designed especially for children ages 10 and under. Hosted by Society Hill Synagogue and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church\, this special program is part of Interfaith Philadelphia’s year-long Religious Freedom: Then & Now series. \nThrough stories\, play\, and creative expression\, children will explore different religious traditions. The event is designed to be engaging\, welcoming\, and accessible by inviting curiosity\, questions\, and connection. \nA faith leader from a different tradition will lead a lively storytime\, reading children’s books that celebrate diversity\, interfaith friendship\, and belonging. Children and their families can ask questions and learn more about the leader’s faith and role in their community. \nBetween storytimes\, children can explore interactive activity stations at their own pace: \nSensory Exploration: Dig into hands-on bins filled with meaningful objects and images from different faiths\, with volunteers on hand to share their significance.\nCommunity Art Project: Contribute to a collaborative art installation celebrating identity and belonging. Each child will create their own piece—reflecting what makes their community stronger—which will come together into a larger work of art.\nThis event offers a playful and meaningful introduction to interfaith understanding.
