DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Second Annual Great Marsh Mud Mosey! This event features two signup options throughout the unique environmental landscape: an approximately 5k run and a one-mile walk. Proceeds of this event go to benefit two local nonprofit organizations: Great Marsh Institute and ChesCo Search Dogs (more info listed at our sign-up link below). \nThe course is relatively flat but will pass along through the marsh ponds on the property\, alongside wooded boundaries past 100’s of acres of farm land and then into the muddy portion of the property and finish on the only paved road before you hit the finish line. The race/walk is limited to the first 150 runners.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Easter like a Swede at the American Swedish Historical Museum’s Easter Family Day! Join us on Sunday\, April 6th\, from 2-4 pm to experience Swedish Easter traditions. In Sweden\, Easter kicks off with a trick-or-treat-like candy hunt on Maundy Thursday. Children dress up as Easter witches with long skirts\, headscarves\, painted red cheeks\, and freckles and go from house to house\, wishing people Happy Easter. \nAt our celebration\, children can make Swedish Easter crafts\, dress up as Easter witches\, enjoy face-painting\, and take part in a traditional egg hunt. We will have two egg hunts\, one for kids ages 2-5 and another for kids 6 and older. Egg hunts will take place outside\, rain or shine. Free for members and children under 2\, $5 for children 2-12.\, $10 for seniors/students\, $15 for adults. The event ticket includes Museum admission. Pay at the door.

DESCRIPTION:Photo courtesy of Brad Maule\nMeeting at Wigard Avenue Trailhead\nHiking Rim to Rim in Wissahickon Valley Park may not offer the same ‘bragging rights’ as a rim to rim hike of the Grand Canyon\, but it will surely provide you with beautiful scenery\, a rewarding hike on both sides of Wissahickon Creek\, wonderful views\, and friendly folks to enjoy it with!\nCome join us as we hike along the Yellow Trail from Wigard Avenue on the west side of the Valley\, across Wissahickon Creek and up Cresheim Valley on the east side. Sights along the way include a hidden cave\, a frog pond\, historic structures\, movie filming locations\, and a beautiful pine grove. We may even get lucky and see some spring ephemerals!\nPlease note that the terrain is hilly with rocks and roots\, and in the event of steady rain\, snow\, or hazardous driving conditions\, we’ll reschedule.\nDistance: 5.5-6.5 miles\nLevel: Difficult (many inclines and declines\, uneven surfaces)\nRegistration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. \nUnless otherwise specified\, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky\, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery.
