We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Trail work: using long-handled tools for digging\, raking\, and scraping; moving heavy objects\n• Invasive plant removal: bending over; using long handled tools for cutting\n• Litter clean-up\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email the day before the event. SUMMARY:Bells Mill Road Clean-Up for Earth Day and MLK Day
DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Bells Mill Road and Forbidden Drive\nParking: Bell’s Mill Road will be closed starting at 7:00 am\, so please plan where you’ll park ahead of time! There is plenty of neighborhood street parking near the Manatawna and Northwestern Trailheads\, but any parking location will require hiking into our meeting location. See map for details.\nBathrooms: There should be porta-potties on Forbidden Drive and Bells Mill Road.\nJoin Friends of the Wissahickon in celebrating BOTH Earth Day and Martin Luther King Jr Day (after having to cancel our service day in January) with a special large-scale clean-up along Bells Mill Road! For this effort\, the Road will be closed from Lykens Lane to Germantown Avenue\, providing volunteers with safe access to a heavily traveled road. By removing litter along the roadway\, we can prevent trash from washing into the creek during rainstorms and help protect habitat and stream health.\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Litter clean-up\n• Hiking up to 2 miles (we’ll be traveling up and down Bells Mill Road picking up trash)\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! The core feelings and phases of this work include self-discovery\, imagination\, world-building\, and self-understanding. These works ask the viewer to admire\, imagine\, and explore what their own personal self-growth and identity journey has looked like. \nAbout the Gallery\nThis exhibition is organized by the Lansdowne Art Committee\, a volunteer group of The Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation. The mission of the Lansdowne Arts Committee is to create\, foster\, and promote Lansdowne’s identity as a vibrant and inspiring artistic community. DESCRIPTION:The Inaugural Philly Outdoor Gear Swap\nSaturday\, June 6th\, 10am- 1pm\nAt The Wissahickon Environmental Center-\nThe Treehouse- 300 W Northwestern Ave\, Philadelphia\, PA 19118 \nJoin us for a one day outdoor flea market to buy\, sell\, trade and give away gently used gear.\nFree to table and free admission.\nThis is a great chance for your equipment to find a new home\nor\nfor you to find some affordable nature stuff to enhance your adventures! \nHelp someone get some good gear cheap. These things are expensive.\nLet’s help lower one of the barriers to enjoying the outdoors in and around Philly! \nThings like- Backpacks/daypacks\, binoculars\, spotting scopes\, boots\, head lamps\, tents\, sleeping bags & pads\, outdoor cooking gear\, guide books\, sunglasses\, hats\, gloves/mittens\, snow gear\, climbing gear\, biking gear\, paddling gear\, bird feeders\, etc. \nYou could raise money for a local non-profit! I’m sure they could use it!\nThere will be some tables on site\, but bring a table or a tarp to set up on\nThis is not a craft fair. The Ukrainian Folk Festival & Summer Concert 2026 will be held at the Ukrainian American Sport Center (www.tryzub.org)\, County Line and Lower State Roads\, Horsham\, PA. \nExciting\, spectacular\, dazzling\, breathtaking\, exhilarating\, spirited\, soulful\, enchanting\, captivating\, and intriguing – modest words which describe but by no means capture the essence of Ukrainian folk art\, music\, song and dance. From the rich color and deep symbolism of the delicate “pysanka” (Ukrainian Easter Egg) to the thunderous\, power\, rhythm and strength of “HOPAK” – the world’s most exciting ethnic dance\, and every brilliant “Kolomiyka” (polka) and soulful folk song in between\, experience the UKRAINIAN FOLK FESTIVAL 2026\, celebrating the 35th anniversary of our ancestral homeland’s independence.
