SUMMARY:Cadence in the Clouds
DESCRIPTION:Cadence in the Clouds is an industry night that celebrates the dreamers in Philadelphia; the artists\, the creatives\, the entrepreneurs\, and the supporters of the arts. It is meant to show Philly artists that they don’t need to move out of the city to have a thriving career. Philly is a city rich in history\, and they should be a part of it given the necessary resources and connections. We aim to create the industry night that puts all of those people in one room\, while using all local Philadelphia businesses and artists\, to make a night where people connect and collaborate through the language of music. While patrons get to enjoy a live concert featuring music from DJ Bear One\, A.Rob\, and Sahlii\, their ticket also comes with artist bios\, raffles for a studio session and a photography/music video shoot\, live art\, complimentary snacks and sweets\, and so much more. \nThis particular concert is all about celebrating artists who are courageous enough to use their music and their art to make a change and stand up to what is going on in the world. It’s meant to show that while some pay punish you for speaking up\, we will highlight you\, putting you on our stage to amplify your voice. Every artist and business who is taking part has used their platform as a release\, and as a means to protest everything happening in the world. By purchasing tickets or any of the art that will be at the event\, you are directly putting money into the pockets of Black and Brown artists.

SUMMARY:Aquatic Saturday at the Discovery Center - Freshwater Mussels!
DESCRIPTION:The Strawberry Mansion Lake has been here for decades\, let’s see what’s inside! Join Audubon Mid-Atlantic in observing and documenting this aquatic ecosystem as the seasons change. For February 7th\, we are joined by Fairmount Water Works and will take a look at our freshwater mussels that are nursing in the lake. We’ll also have materials for optional watercolor painting with lake water. RSVP down below to secure your spot. \nThroughout the year\, you can try our rotating activities of exploring microorganisms and macroinvertebrate sampling during warmer weather. This community science data will be collected and utilized for future management. Kid-friendly activities are available like using children binoculars\, scavenger hunts\, arts and crafts (adult supervision is needed). Lastly\, take a walk on our trail and waterwalk to learn more about our conservation projects! SUMMARY:"Sessions with the Muse" Closing Reception
DESCRIPTION:“Sessions with the Muse” offers a peek into my creative process\, showcasing the documentation of my experiments\, the pages of my journals\, and an array of samples\, messy prototypes\, doodles\, sketches\, and pieces that are complete—for now—alongside those that remain works in progress. This collection emphasizes process and materials\, each drawing me back to nature and\, ultimately\, to my own wild nature. These sessions are practices\, pathways I’ve explored to find inspiration: looking to the light within\, channeling source energy\, and becoming quiet enough to hear the golden wisdom of ancestors. Through these pathways\, I seek the glow of inner muses to guide practices and illuminate pathways to purposeful\, meaningful creation. \nOver the last year as artist-in-residence at the Random Tea Room\, I’m was able to share the creative practices that help me connect with myself\, with nature\, with others\, and with sources of creative energy and inspiration—the muse within. I look forward to creating\, solving small process puzzles\, and playing together. Join me for journaling\, weaving\, mending\, natural dyeing… and plenty of tea and plant magic! I can’t create this without you\, so come\, bring your muses\, and let’s have tea together. \nNicole Duprée \nAbout/ Bio \nNicole Duprée is a teaching artist and founder of Indigo in Green–a Philadelphia-based creative workshop producing artisanal\, natural art supplies and educational resources. For nature art tutorials\, field trips to Philly green spaces\, and projects featuring local artists watch Indigo in Green on Philly CAM and YouTube.
