SUMMARY:Artist Closing and Talk
DESCRIPTION:“…at this very moment millions of human beings are standing at crossroads and intersections…”\n—Yehuda Amichai\, Open Closed Open \nThis is the message at the heart of “More Ink Meandering with Cutaways and Folds (Accompanied by a Poem)\,” an exhibition of ink works by artist Cheryl Levin. \nLevins’ work compels close attention with its intricate delicacy. By utilizing abstraction through thinly drawn linework and cutaways\, the artist memorializes and traces her evolution of processing loss through the years. The initial works were made using her artistic partner and late husband Robert Phillips’ metal cut-offs. Levin infuses them with ink\, bleeding into the page to echo the transitions from grief to eventual acceptance and distance\, encompassing the inconsistencies we collectively navigate in our life journeys. \nMore Ink Meandering with Cutaways and Folds (Accompanied by a Poem) will be on view in Gallery 1 at Da Vinci Art Alliance from March 4th to March 22nd.

SUMMARY:Cadence in the Clouds
DESCRIPTION:Cadence in the Clouds is an industry night that celebrates the dreamers in Philadelphia; the artists\, the creatives\, the entrepreneurs\, and the supporters of the arts. It is meant to show Philly artists that they don’t need to move out of the city to have a thriving career. Philly is a city rich in history\, and they should be a part of it given the necessary resources and connections. We aim to create the industry night that puts all of those people in one room\, while using all local Philadelphia businesses and artists\, to make a night where people connect and collaborate through the language of music. While patrons get to enjoy a live concert featuring music from DJ Bear One\, A.Rob\, and Sahlii\, their ticket also comes with artist bios\, raffles for a studio session and a photography/music video shoot\, live art\, complimentary snacks and sweets\, and so much more. \nThis particular concert is all about celebrating artists who are courageous enough to use their music and their art to make a change and stand up to what is going on in the world. It’s meant to show that while some pay punish you for speaking up\, we will highlight you\, putting you on our stage to amplify your voice. Every artist and business who is taking part has used their platform as a release\, and as a means to protest everything happening in the world. By purchasing tickets or any of the art that will be at the event\, you are directly putting money into the pockets of Black and Brown artists.

SUMMARY:Curtis Symphony Orchestra: Osmo Conducts Bartók
DESCRIPTION:Embark on a musical odyssey with renowned Finnish conductor Osmo Vänskä. The evening begins with Missy Mazzoli’s Sinfonia (for Orbiting Spheres)\, a swirling\, celestial work inspired by planetary motion and the roiling drone of the medieval stringed instrument\, the hurdy-gurdy. Henry Dorn’s powerful Transitions follows\, a deeply personal tone poem reflecting on loss\, transformation\, and resilience. \nThe program features the world premiere of a new concerto for woodwinds and orchestra by David Serkin Ludwig\, performed by Grammy-winning quintet and Curtis faculty Imani Winds. The concert concludes with Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra\, a virtuosic showcase that transforms each section of the ensemble into dazzling soloists. Charting a bold musical journey across five movements—this masterwork blends folk-inspired melodies\, modernist harmonies\, and brilliant orchestration\, making it one of the most beloved orchestral pieces of the 20th century. \nPlease note programs and artists are subject to change. \nProgram\nMAZZOLI – Sinfonia (for Orbiting Spheres)\nDORN – Transitions\nLUDWIG (’01) – Concerto for Imani Winds & Orchestra\nBARTÓK – Concerto for Orchestra
