SUMMARY:Stormwater Runoff: Management and Regulation
DESCRIPTION:Join Climate Action PA and Speaker Brent Walls of the Potomac Riverkeeper Network to discuss the detrimental effects of nonpoint source pollution; particularly stormwater runoff\, and how it is affecting the city of Philadelphia and its surrounding regions. The Philadelphia Water Department launched a 25-year initiative in 2011 titled Green City\, Clean Waters; this program had the goals of reducing overall stormwater pollution as well as improving city wastewater capacity and quality of treatment centers. We will be diving into this initiative as well as how the requirements are enforced by organizations and agencies. Throughout this event\, we will learn about the issues surrounding stormwater mitigation\, new technologies being developed and implemented within the city\, and ways in which you can be an informed and involved community member on this environmental issue!

SUMMARY:Weathering the Winter
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, February 10th from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm\nWeathering the Winter \nWinters were harsh in the 18th century\, but even in cold and snowy weather there was still plenty of work to do around the farm. Fires had to be built\, food preserved and cooked\, and animals needed tending. Visit the Farmstead on February 10th to watch our living historians demonstrate the types of farm chores a family like the Wentzes would have had to do this time of year. Watch as meat and other provisions are cured and preserved in the Smokehouse\, check out a cooking demonstration in the Summer Kitchen\, and more! \nAll ages; Free.
