SUMMARY:Philly Unwrapped Community Waste Reduction Engagement Session
DESCRIPTION:Philly Unwrapped is a coalition-driven initiative working to establish a city-wide reuse system in Philadelphia. Our work is focused on reducing single-use waste\, protecting public health\, and creating the conditions for reuse to become standard practice across our city’s businesses\, institutions\, and communities. \nWe invite you to join us for our next in-person session\, hosted in partnership with Germantown United CDC at Our House Culture Center on Germantown Avenue. This session is part of a six-part series that includes both virtual and in-person convening each one an opportunity to deepen our collective understanding\, strengthen partnerships\, and move this work forward together. \nFood will be provided and Spanish interpretation will be available. Space is limited to 30 seats\, so please register early and plan to arrive on time. \nThis session will focus on two areas: \nFirst\, we will examine the business case for reuse. Participants will share real examples of organizations transitioning away from single-use packaging and serviceware\, including the financial savings\, operational considerations\, and the impact on customer health and community trust.\nSecond\, Trash Academy will lead a community engagement session where participants are invited to share their own questions\, barriers\, and considerations around reuse adoption. This is an important part of our process. Building a system that works for Philadelphia requires honest input from the organizations and communities who will be part of it.\nWe are asking food and beverage businesses\, city agencies\, NGOs\, BIDs\, neighborhood associations\, and concerned residents to register\, attend\, and stay engaged. This work depends on sustained participation from across the city. \nBusinesses that attend will also gain access to future grant opportunities to support their transition to reuse. \nBest Regards\, Partners and Collaborators\, \nECHO Systems\nGermantown United CDC\nThe Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia\nTrash Academy\nRethink Disposable\, a project of Clean Water Fund\nAnd the Philly Unwrapped Coalition

Maps (including parking\, cleaning boundaries\, and trash drop sites) can be found on the registration page. Please note that this is a self-guided volunteer outing and you will join other volunteers in cleaning your section. \n\nDay-of Event Details\nMost participants begin cleaning around 9:00 am\, but that time is flexible. Report directly to your assigned section and leave your trash in the designated areas no later than 1:00pm. \nBe prepared to get wet and/or muddy. Volunteers are asked to clean both the surrounding trails and in the creek. Old shoes\, rain boots\, or waders are suggested. \nSupply Pick-Up \nRegistered volunteers can pick-up their bags and supplies the week leading up to the event at 12 Morris Road\, Ambler\, PA 19002 during any of these dates and times: \n\nTuesday\, 4/21: 11a-3p\nWednesday\, 4/22: 11a-6p\nThursday\, 4/23: 11a-6p\nFriday\, 4/24: 11a-3p\nSaturday\, 4/25: 8a-9a\n\n  \nSponsorship\nSponsoring the 57th annual Creek Clean Up reflects a shared dedication to preserving our local environment and ensuring that green spaces and trails remain accessible for the community to enjoy.
