DESCRIPTION:See FDR Park from a new perspective with a paddle on the lake!\n\nDATE\nSaturday\, August 16 \n\n\n\nTIME\n10:00 am – 2:00 pm \n\n\n\nLOCATION\nFDR Park Boathouse \nFDR Park\nPhiladelphia PA 19145 \n\n\n\nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and Independence Seaport Museumfor free paddle boating at FDR Park on select dates in the summer and fall! \nPaddle boats are an easy and safe way for families and people of all ages to explore Edgewood Lake\, just behind the FDR Park Boathouse. As you pedal around\, use the kid-friendly binoculars provided to spot turtles\, ducks\, blooming flowers\, and maybe even a great blue heron –the long-legged shore bird the boats are shaped after. \nThis event is geared toward our FDR Park neighbors. \nChildren must be able to fit into a life jacket (30+ pounds) in order to participate. Waivers must be signed beforehand\, and all minors must have an adult available to sign for them. There is no place to store belongings while out on the water\, so we recommend bringing a small bag/waterproof case to store them in. We suggest having at least two people on each boat to balance pedaling; boats cannot hold more than four people. \nTICKET PRICE: Free\, no pre-registration required \nABOUT INDEPENDENCE SEAPORT MUSEUM: The Independence Seaport Museum\, located along the Delaware River at Penn’s Landing\, invites visitors of all ages to discover Philadelphia’s river of history and world of connections. With water as the unifying thread\, stories of those who lived and worked along our regional waterways come to life through award-winning exhibitions. Our historic ships\, the Olympia and the Becuna\, connect Philadelphia to the rest of the world\, telling tales about the people and cultures they have interacted with on their journeys. Gear sale includes boats which you can try before you buy as well al lots of great outdoor clothing and gear.. Please join us at the historic old mill clubhouse to help celebrate our 120th Anniversary at the confluence of the Wissahickon Creek for a day of fun and community. Enjoy live folk music featuring the Schist Creak Stompers and singer songwriter Zach Weagley- 4900 Ridge Ave -along the Schuylkill River Trail\, follow the driveway behind the Wissahickon Transportation Center to join the festivities.

The party doesn’t end there\, with all 250 boat ticket holders gaining free access to the after party at Winston on the Water\, just a short walk from the Ben Franklin’s Dock. The after party features drink specials as well as music from artists like POETIK SELEKTIONS & E.LEE. Tickets to the after party are $10 without a boat ticket.

DESCRIPTION:Over 130 species of birds have visited the Strawberry Mansion Reservoir since it was decommissioned. Now that nature has taken over the space\, we’ll be going out in the canoes to find out exactly what draws them to this special place. We will be fitting everyone with paddles\, Personal Floatation Device (PFD)\, and binoculars. Join us for a paddle as we search for flora and fauna that call the reservoir home. \nNo canoeing experience or bird/ plant knowledge required! Just bring a buddy and enjoy your time on the reservoir. Participants will learn tips and proper canoe technique from our Outward Bound Instructors. \nRequirements: \n1). This event is for children (ages 8+) and adults. Participants 8-12 years of age must be in the canoe with a responsible adult. \n2). Limited capacity. This event is FIRST COME\, FIRST SERVE. Registration starts at 10am. DESCRIPTION:Join the Environmental Citywide Coalition of Philly (ECCO Philly)\, Upstream Alliance\, and the Riverways Collaboration on October 4th 5:00-7:30 for a cruise on a 50-person boat on the Delaware River! Meet at the dock in front of the Independence Seaport Museum by 5:00. We will discuss current water quality issues and efforts in Philadelphia and Camden\, and our growing\, community-led coalition to advance environmental work in Philly\, while taking in the beautiful sights of our urban river! There are approximately 20 spots left for this fun evening with fellow environmental advocates\, nonprofit leaders\, neighbors\, and environmental enthusiasts of all types! Bring your water bottle or beverage of choice\, although some drinks and small snacks will be available. \nThe boat is an aluminum pontoon boat that is 54 feet long\, open on all sites for great viewing.
