SUMMARY:Back To My Roots: A Terrence L. Gore Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition can be viewed during open hours in the historic Bartram House as a part of the following events: Twilight in the Garden on 10/3\, Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration on  10/12\, and Harvest Fest on 10/19. \n  \n“A Creative Story of Survival \nMy family migrated here from Savannah\, GA in 1967. Terrence L. Gore\, a Geechee boy. \nWe moved into Bartram Village in 1971. \nBartram’s Garden was my backyard\, a clothes line\, fashion inspiration\, and sanctuary green space. \nIt was far too easy for me to squeeze my slight body through the fence that surrounded the Garden then and cross the tracks which separated the Village from the Garden. I would seek out and explore nature as a child to discover the world of natural wonders: seeds\, herbs\, fruits\, specimens\, animals\, the river\, and hills\, etc. \nI was amazed by John Bartram’s house\, which we could only visit from the outside when I was growing up. The architecture was astonishing. I wanted to know what was in such a structure that is so pristine – yet so private to me at times. For 50-plus years\, I have had the experience of this land. \nInterestingly enough\, John Bartram and I share so much in common; botanists and creators. Although our mediums and collections are different – our missions are similar. \nI use my art as a teaching tool\, telling stories of natural beauty; a survival tool as medicine for the soul. \nTwenty years ago\, upon my diagnosis with PML (Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy)\, and a month stay in the hospital\, I had to make a huge decision. HOW WAS I GOING TO LIVE MY LIFE – MOVING FORWARD? After I was discharged from the hospital I went back “home” to Bartram’s Garden to do some soul searching. \nIt was then that pieces of natural mediums caught my eye and began to speak to me. I started to create artworks from my soul; works that are difficult to describe at times where the completed images come alive and are seemingly looking right back at me. \nMost recently\, after two months and a few days in the hospital\, 6/15/2025 – 8/21/2025\, I am making a speedy recovery. I’m excited to share these works & my story and hope that it will bring the Garden alive for those who visit in new and wonderful ways.”

SUMMARY:Yellow Fever 1793: Evening Tour
DESCRIPTION:Step back and confront the chilling reality of Philadelphia’s most devastating epidemic on our Yellow Fever Tour at Christ Church Burial Ground. In the summer of 1793\, a terrifying fever swept through the city\, then the nation’s capital\, killing thousands and sending panic through the streets. \nThis guided tour will lead you through the very grounds where many of the victims—and heroes—of the outbreak were laid to rest. As you walk among the headstones\, you’ll learn about the medical theories of the time\, the societal breakdown caused by the disease\, and the remarkable resilience of a city under siege. This tour offers a unique and somber look into a pivotal moment in Philadelphia’s history\, exploring themes of public health\, heroism\, and the enduring human spirit in the face of tragedy.

SUMMARY:Buen Camino
DESCRIPTION:Touring from Hawaii\, Susan Edsall brings “Buen Camino\,” directed and developed by Jessica Lynn Johnson\, to the Yellow Bicycle Theatre (1435 Arch St) for the 2025 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. \nSusan has a perfect life\, a perfect love\, and perfect happiness. When she suddenly undergoes an unexpected loss\, her perfect life ends. Consumed by excruciating pain\, she finds it impossible to imagine any future worth living.\nUntil\, on an ordinary trip to the grocery store\, she hears The Voice. The trouble is\, Susan doesn’t believe in Voices. And yet\, when The Voice tells her to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain\, she obeys despite knowing nothing about this ancient pilgrimage. \nAt rock bottom\, Susan has nothing left to lose except the stories that bind her to the past. With the help of some improbable Spiritual Guides\, a little bit of magic\, and the Camino itself\, Susan must face her past to have any hope of creating her future. \nAlone on stage\, she becomes 23 characters to take the audience on her solitary walk through 540 miles of rain\, resentment\, and redemption. “Buen Camino” is a moving story of how grief can lead to surrender and ultimately to freedom. \n“Through the vivid\, funny and at times heartbreaking story of an excruciating and intense time in her life\, she magically transfers her own metamorphoses\, from profoundly bereft widow to hopeful\, determined and inspiring human\, to us — the audience. Both the performer and the observers undoubtedly changed by art created out of tragedy.” –NoHo Arts District

SUMMARY:lithographs
DESCRIPTION:Why do we come to know ourselves inside the narrowness of regulation and its rhythms? What happens when the skin’s agency is overtaken by a pressing force? \n“This work doesn’t resolve. It stains.” Philadelphia-based choreographer Rece Komorn premieres lithographs — a 50-minute in-motion rupture at the 2025 Fringe Festival. Premiering at Icebox Project Space on Sunday\,\nSeptember 7 at 2:00 pm as part of the 2025 Philadelphia Fringe Festival\, lithographs traverses the terrain of regulation as something that lingers as residues\, sensations\, and interruptions\, unfolding as a choreographic score of governance\, exposure\, and sediments. \nTwo performers (Jahnell Boozer and Ally Wilson) move through a field of looping\, bodily impressions\, and unsustainable repetitions. The work drifts between containment and gesture\, structure and glitch\, offering a live etching of revolution as a warming break in the patterns of bodily control. \n“It is in the residues of the choreography where we become acquainted with a slip from the script in favor of a newfound\, diffuse power.”

SUMMARY:5 Stagehands Fall Out of a Closet (the goose crisis)
DESCRIPTION:An avante-garde model\, a professor of botanical poetry\, and a paranormal investigator walk into a bar. Ouch. \nThey proceed to the back of the Trestle Inn\, where\, hidden behind an ominous curtain\, shapeshifter Grace Lazarz unleashes a bevy of lovably grotesque characters into the intimate Go-Go purgatory. \nLazarz and director/collaborator\, Michael Amendola\, invite the audience to follow a whirligig of comic delirium while a chorus of 2 57 13 … 5 stagehands try to piece together a psyche with bubblegum and bum notes… before time runs out. \nGet your steps in\, lewk mortality in the eye(s)\, and discover the beauty of aging car mechanics and mutated pig innkeepers. “5SFOOAC(TGC)” is an absurdity that will stay with you until your cosmic punch(ouch)line. \n*Characters created by various imbalances.
