SUMMARY:Landscape Painting with Gregory Blue
DESCRIPTION:Experience the landscape firsthand in this four-session outdoor painting course taught by Studio Incamminati faculty member Gregory Blue. Held on four Saturdays in October at Natural Lands protected places – Stroud Preserve\, ChesLen Preserve\, Stoneleigh: a natural garden and Pier 68 on the Philadelphia Waterfront. The class will give students the opportunity to paint directly from nature while exploring composition\, color\, light\, atmosphere\, and the challenges of working en plein air. \nEach session will take place at a different preserved landscape in the Philadelphia area\, offering students a variety of natural environments and subject matter. Through demonstrations\, individual instruction\, and sustained painting\, students will develop their ability to observe\, simplify\, and translate the landscape into a compelling work of art. \n\nPresented in partnership with Studio Incamminati: \nStudio Incamminati is a nonprofit art school in Philadelphia dedicated to providing rigorous training in realist art while preparing artists to build sustainable professional careers. Described as “one of the nation’s top art academies” by Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine\, the school was founded by world-renowned portraitist Nelson Shanks and offers a range of programs\, including its core Advanced Fine Art Program\, continuing education courses\, workshops\, lectures\, and a BFA track in partnership with Rowan University. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD)\, Studio Incamminati combines a strong foundation in classical technique with opportunities for students to develop the creative confidence and professional skills needed to succeed in today’s cultural landscape. \n\nNote: There is a maximum of 10 participants due to the sensitive ecology of some of the locations. \nOct. 10: Stroud Preserve 454 N Creek Rd\, West Chester\, PA 19382\nOct. 17: Cheslen Preserve 1199 Cannery Rd\, Coatesville\, PA 19320\nOct. 24: Stoneleigh: a natural garden 1829 County Line Rd\, Villanova\, PA 19085\nOct. 31: Pier 68 Philadelphia Waterfront\, Pier 70 Blvd\, Philadelphia\, PA 19148 \nRegister on Studio Incamminati’s website.

The workshop will be held in the Art Department at Parkway Central Library and will run from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. No experience is needed and all materials will be provided. \nParticipants should pre-register at the link below: \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd0qz0VdHI0qEIrDA6DdnU6FrpSI4ekhsFkv1HFxDQvXqHCPg/viewform?usp=publish-editor

SUMMARY:Amish Country Queer: A Night of Film\, Art & Drag
DESCRIPTION:An award-winning documentary\, a photo exhibition celebrating rural LGBTQ+ life\, and a homegrown drag show converge in one unforgettable night. \nAmish Country Queer is a film about Lancaster’s queer nightlife and drag culture\, and a story about what it means to be visibly\, joyfully\, unapologetically queer in a place the world told you wasn’t built for you. \nTulle Queer is an ongoing portrait series by trans artist Brady Pappas that honors the queer icons of the 717 region. Using tulle as a recurring visual motif\, the project creates a vibrant\, community-rooted celebration of visibility and resilience. \nThe Angel Hour is Lancaster’s second-longest-running drag show\, celebrating five years of glamour and sisterhood\, created by Charlize Angelz. \nThis is a night of celebration. Of queer bodies\, queer lives\, and queer autonomy. Of breaking the binaries and changing the narratives we’ve been handed about where we can live\, whom we can love\, and who we can be. Queerness has never been confined to city limits\, and this night proves it. \nAnd this is where the future gets made. Not at the center\, but at the fringes. \nAmish Country Queer: A Night of Film\, Art & Drag is presented by Little Echo Productions and co-presented by cinéSPEAK.

SUMMARY:In Color Birding Book Club: Migrations
DESCRIPTION:Join our partners\, Philadelphia-based In Color Birding\, for their very first Book Club gathering\, where bird joy meets storytelling. \nOn Wednesday\, June 10th\, we are coming together at the Parkway Central Library to dive into Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy\, a powerful\, atmospheric novel that follows one woman’s journey alongside the last Arctic terns in a rapidly changing world. It is a story about movement\, loss\, love\, and what we hold onto when everything feels uncertain\, and we cannot wait to hear what it stirred up for you. \nThis will not be a lecture. It is a conversation. We will spend about 90 minutes reflecting on what moved us\, what challenged us\, and what we are still sitting with. Whether you finished the book\, started it\, or are just curious\, you are welcome here. \nLike all of In Color Birding Club’s gatherings\, this space is rooted in community\, curiosity\, and connection. Come as you are. Bring your thoughts\, your questions\, your perspectives\, or just come to listen. \nNeed a copy of the book? You can borrow it through the Free Library or Libby\, grab one from your local bookstore\, or use Bookshop.org or Libro.fm\, and if cost is a barrier\, In Color Birding has you covered. \nWe’ll be gathering on the 4th floor in a conference room which holds 40 people comfortably. Small refreshments will be served. The space is fully accessible\, with elevator access and restrooms on the same floor. Easy to reach by SEPTA\, and parking support is available. \nCome build something new with us\, a space for stories\, reflection\, and community. \n \n register now
