SUMMARY:TIMELINE
DESCRIPTION:Philadelphia Sculptors\, in partnership with Women for Greater Philadelphia\, announces the outdoor sculpture exhibition TIMELINE at historic Laurel Hill Mansion in East Fairmount Park. The show opens with a free public reception on Friday\, July 18\, 2025\, from 6-8 pm. \nTIMELINE is a dynamic group exhibit that offers a wide-ranging look at the Laurel Hill site and its layered history along the Schuylkill River. Artists\, selected by jurors Nancy Agati and Rachel Zimmerman\, proposed works that respond to the complex timeline of the property\, the mansion itself\, and the many individuals who have lived on\, cared for\, and shaped the land. Laurel Hill Mansion sits on lands that were inhabited for millennia by the Lenni Lenape. \nThe land was acquired by William Penn in 1682\, and the mansion\, built in 1767\, has undergone numerous changes in structure\, ownership\, and use\, from the colonial era to the present. With a focus on the past\, several works in the exhibition address aspects of women’s rights to property\, labor and farming\, trade and commerce\, slavery\, and the abolitionist movement. Artists have engaged with broader themes\, creating works that integrate and connect contemporary viewpoints with historical concepts\, including the passage of time\, displacement\, resilience\, stewardship\, and our human relationship to the land. \nThe property is currently managed by the nonprofit organization Women for Greater Philadelphia. This exhibition marks the kickoff for the series of events at Laurel Hill Mansion that will celebrate the nation’s Semiquincentennial in 2026. \nParticipating artists: Laura Frazure\, Peggy Hartzell\, Brenda Howell\, Sam Horowitz\, Carole Loeffler\, Linda Lorrie Gross\, Jessica Mungekar\, carrie R\, Holly Smith\, Simone Spicer\, Julia Way\, Marisa Williamson. \nExhibition Dates: July 18 – October 17\, 2025\nOpening Reception: Friday\, July 18th\, 6 – 8 pm\nSite hours: Thursdays – Sundays\, 10 am – 4 pm\nLocation: Laurel Hill Mansion\, 3487 Edgley Drive\, East Fairmount Park\, Philadelphia

SUMMARY:July RFC Historic House Tour & Lecture- Living/Working: 6 Home/Studios of Antonin & Noémi Raymond
DESCRIPTION:House Tour of the Raymond Farm\n1:00 PM- 2:30 PM \nRFC co-director John DeFazio AIA will lead a historic tour of the Raymond Farm House. 120 acres currently make up the Raymond Farm\, which were purchased by Antonin and Noémi Raymond in 1938. The Raymonds were attracted to the property due to the sturdy construction of both the bank barn and Quaker farmhouse. Within a few years\, the Raymonds had a bustling modern farm\, which also served as an atelier where architects and artists came to hone their craft. \nLecture: Living/Working: 6 Home/Studios of Antonin & Noémi Raymond\n2:45 PM- 4:00 PM \nLiving/Working will trace the development of the Raymond’s unique style of Modern architecture design through the houses they designed for themselves\, including the Raymond Farmhouse. Each Raymond house is a landmark in their contribution to the development of Modern Architecture in Japan\, and remain today as an inspiration for a holistic\, integrated approach to architecture\, art\, work and life.

SUMMARY:Modern Printmaking Networks: Wharton Esherick\, Wanda Gág\, and the Weyhe Gallery
DESCRIPTION:The Wharton Esherick Museum is delighted to team up with the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Prints\, Drawings\, and Photographs Department for an exclusive curator-led walkthrough of the new exhibition Wanda Gág: Art for Life’s Sake and visit to the PMA’s Print Study Center where we’ll look at prints by Esherick and his contemporaries. During the program\, we’ll talk with WEM curator Emily Zilber and PMA curators Laurel Garber\, Em Dombrovskaya\, and Colin Fanning about Wharton Esherick and Wanda Gág’s shared printmaking network and explore the ways that Esherick and Gág’s prints and illustrations were circulated to consumers and the broader public through their shared relationship with the Weyhe Gallery and its manager\, Carl Zigrosser. \nYou might be familiar with Wanda Gág as the author and illustrator of Millions of Cats (1928)\, the oldest children’s book still in print today. Esherick and Gág were both part of a larger network of early twentieth century printmakers working closely with the Weyhe Gallery and its manager Carl Zigrosser\, who would go on to become the first curator of Prints and Drawings at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The two artists frequently exhibited together at the Weyhe Gallery as well as at Whitney Biennials\, the Brooklyn Museum\, and other print exhibitions during the ‘20s and ‘30s. Their life and work share common threads such as their participation in the early twentieth-century back-to-the-land movement\, their studio practices\, interest in capturing scenes of rural life\, and their work as illustrators. Their common stories allow us to explore the important role galleries played in an artist’s career and different ways the Weyhe gallery network connected Esherick to other printmakers and potential patrons! \nWe’ll start the day meeting the curators of the exhibition\, Laurel Garber and Em Dombrovskaya\, inside the Great Stair Hall of the PMA where they’ll then take us through the show and wrap up the day in the Perelman Building’s Print Study Center. See a map of the PMA here! \nTickets:\n$55 per person | $45 for WEM members
