On view at the Center for Art & Social Engagement in Westby Hall from October 4 through December 21, Gaia Theory, an exhibition of Emily Erb’s collage and silk paintings. Erb embeds within the boundaries of a larger-than-life human form, navigational charts such as road, topography, and war campaign maps to represent the different facets of the human physiological system. Road maps become the nervous system, topographical maps become the circulatory system, and war maps become the lymphatic system. We continue along the high ridge of the White Trail to take in all the different species and make our way to Climbers Rock. After an introductory explanation of the iNaturalist app and its functions, Andrew Conboy, Morris Arboretum’s Martha S. Miller and Rusty Miller urban forestry fellow, will guide a tour through Mt. Cuba’s gardens and natural lands, logging observations of plants and wildlife found along the way.
