Become an official certified Save Our Streams water quality monitor to see how healthy your local streams are.
About this event
Save Our Streams (SOS) is a great way to test water quality by collecting and identifying underwater insects, called macroinvertebrates. The Izaak Walton League is partnering with the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust to provide a workshop for those who wish to become a certified SOS Monitor and have their data entered into a nationwide water quality database.
In order to become a certified SOS Monitor, volunteers must;
1. Complete online portion, including watching 2 webinars and passing a macroinvertebrate identification quiz.
2. Attend a field training session (this event!) to learn the collection protocols.
3. Pass a protocol quiz.
Attendees must complete the online portion of the certification in order to attend. Start the online portion here – https://www.iwla.org/water/stream-monitoring/upcoming-water-monitoring-workshops/online-certification
