Big Rocks and Big Trees Part 1 with Lisa Myers

November 5, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Meet at Hermit Lane Trailhead (Hermit Lane and Henry Avenue)
Some of the biggest trees in the Wissahickon await you on this 2.5 mile hike using a lesser traveled footpath in the Lower Wissahickon. On the way we will see other Wissahickon iconic landmarks such as Kelpius Cave and the 100 Steps. Along the paved bike path, we will observe large gneiss exposures and different tree species. There is an option for a slightly longer hike (3.5 miles) if the Ten Box Connector Bridge is finished. This hike is attended for adults and please leave pets at home (except service animals)
Distance: 2.5 to 3.5 miles
Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.  If you or anyone in your household are exhibiting COVID-19 systems, please stay home. More information is at fow.org/covid-19.
Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Christina Bassler at bassler@fow.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
