Become a Pa. MWEE Certified Facilitator

  • Who is eligible: Formal and non-formal educators who have completed the Pennsylvania Meaningful Watershed Education Experience (Pa. MWEE) Ambassador Certification professional development between 2018 and 2023 and have also completed the MWEE 101 online course.
  • When and where:
    • Three virtual sessions (all three are required):
      • Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
      • Wednesday, April 26, 2023, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
      • Wednesday, May 3, 2023, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. and
    • One in-person session of your location choice; all from 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.:
    • NOTE: To attain and maintain full Pa. MWEE Certified Facilitator status, eligible attendees must complete all three virtual sessions and one of the in-person sessions, and then also:
      • Co-plan and lead their first Pa. MWEE-related workshop with a Pa. MWEE Certified Facilitator Trainer (minimum of six hours).
      • Complete the required certification completion report and all other proposal and/or reporting forms for all MWEE-related workshops.
  • Cost: FREE, 12 hours of Act 48 continuing education hours will be provided for any Pa. certified teachers requesting hours.
  • Registration: Seats are limited and registration is required by Friday, April 14, 2023.

Lunch will be provided for the in-person session.

Join us for three 2-hour online sessions and one 6-hour in-person session to dive deeper into the Pa. MWEE framework, Pa. MWEE Facilitator Guide, and Pa. Science, Technology, Engineering, Environmental Literacy, and Sustainability (STEELS) standards toward becoming a Pa. MWEE Certified Facilitator. Investigation of local environmental issues and outdoor field experiences are included in a model MWEE.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain the knowledge, skills, and processes to be able to lead Pa. MWEE Introduction, Certified Ambassador, Supplemental Content and Field Skills, and Certified Educator professional development, as approved by the Pa. ELit Network’s Steering Committee.
  • Plan a model MWEE to learn how to assist local school districts and nonformal environmental education providers use the MWEE Environmental Learning Model (ELM) and the STEELS standards to plan and implement MWEEs.
