Each artist uses gestural patterns in their work\, creating an airy atmosphere and feeling of retrospection. In Elisa’s work\, we see flashes of natural scenes that are borderline abstract\, visualizing distant memories. Similarly\, Nanci uses imagery of water and reflections to represent how our momental perspective can change over time.

A medium rooted in observation; photography records environmental transformation—retreating shorelines\, altered river systems\, industrial intervention\, deforestation\, and ecological loss—while also translating these changes into visual forms that can be felt as much as they are understood. \nThis exhibition No Other Place to Go considers how photography reflects the psychological weight of climate change\, shaped by collective anxiety\, grief\, and uncertainty. The featured work by Anita Allyn\, Richard Boutwell\, Laura Krasnow\, Kaitlin Pomerantz\, and Emma Ressel exemplifies photography’s capacity to show what is happening in a world undergoing rapid climatic and ecological change. By bringing data into dialogue with experience\, inviting viewers to see not just what has been lost but why it matters—and how the consequences of climate change ripple through ecosystems and human communities alike. DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Wigard Avenue Trailhead (view location on Google Maps)\nOur Discover the Wissahickon hike series is presented by Newrez.\nJoin Trail Ambassadors Susie Gettes\, Lisa Kleiman\, Jennifer Danos\, and Kent Peterman for a longer hike along the Yellow Trail\, the main natural surface trail on the west side of the creek. On the way\, we’ll pass Courtesy Stables\, where we’ll try to catch a peek at some of the horses housed there\, Houston Meadow\, and Magargee Dam. This will be a moderately difficult hike\, and good fitness is required. \nCheck out a preview of our hike on Komoot below!  \nParking and Transit: If you’re driving\, there’s plenty of space to park onsite. Reminder to never leave valuables behind in your car! If you’re taking public transit\, our location is serviced by the 9 and 27 buses\, although it’s a 10-minute walk from the 9 bus stop. See map for details.\nBathrooms: None.\nRegistration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses\, you will uncover the Arboretum’s plants\, animals\, and other seasonal highlights that bring the woodland trails to life.\nAbout your guide:  Barbara Frank is a PA Master Naturalist\, a Tyler-trained docent\, a yoga teacher\, an artist\, and a true lover of nature in all of its manifestations. She leads tours for children and adults.\nPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED\nThe program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. Check in at the Visitor Center\, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler\, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic\, but nature will always shine through! To learn more about tours\, admission\, and for directions\, visithttps://cliveden.org/tours/. \nProcuring Liberty in the Emerging Nation \nThe North American continent became the site of war beginning in the 1750s and continued throughout the next three decades. The construction of Cliveden occurred during this violent time. A growing household of over twenty people at Cliveden reshaped their identities and looked to retain or procure their liberty at a time when discussions of freedom and independence were in everyone’s thoughts. The growth of flax and creation of flaxcrete are at the center of Franklin Thread\, the Association for Public Art’s Art on the Parkway installation that envisions a more sustainable future for our city. \nWe’ll harvest the living flax growing on site and see Richards demonstrate how the flax is retted and transformed into flaxcrete. \nThis event is part of the Association for Public Art’s Material Matters series\, which offers a closer look at the materials\, techniques\, and specialized processes behind public art through on-site discussions with artists\, architects\, conservators\, and other experts.

Across painting\, mixed media\, abstraction\, and symbolism\, the artists transform experiences of grief\, motherhood\, migration\, mental health\, and cultural memory into spaces of reflection and resilience. Rooted in vivid color\, expressive gesture\, and layered storytelling\, Possession considers home not only as a physical place\, but as something carried within the body\, memory\, and spirit. DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Valley Green Inn (Forbidden Drive and Valley Green Road)\nParking and Transit: There are three lots near the Inn. The northern parking lot on Forbidden Drive can be accessed by Wises Mill Road\, and the southern by Valley Green Road. Overflow parking is in the Upper Valley Green Road Lot. The only nearby transit is the 27 bus stop at Henry Ave and Wigard Ave\, a 15-minute hike from the Inn. See map for details.\nBathrooms: There will be bathroom access at the Valley Green Inn before we walk over to Devil’s Pool.\nWould you like to be part of keeping the Wissahickon Valley watershed healthy and litter-free? Then join us on Tuesday mornings this summer for a Devil’s Pool Clean-up!\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Litter clean-up: carrying trash bags up to 20 lbs\, hiking up to 1.5 miles\, navigating rocky terrain\n• Repetitive motions\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email one business day before the event.\nRegistration is required for all volunteer service days so that participants can be informed of emergency cancellations.
